petro and diesel are competely different in terms of cylinderhead design.

new pics of my progress, i had a couple of free lessons at college so i decided to nip to the scrappy t get an exhaust manifold to butcher . I went at it completly blind with no measurements and just a mental picture of where it was going and these are the results

I'm glad you've sorted a manifold. I couldn't find that 318 manifold anywhere and assumed it must have found its way to the communal scrap pile, which it did. But turns out my neighbours used the flange and is turbo-ing his beetle.

got hold of a bosch fuel pump injectors and the bracket that holds the pump to the engine. I have allready tweeked the pum ready for fitting to my car and i will be running the pump on the engine without the turbo to start with, the spec is : 11mm pump head (ford transit), ford transit principle leaver and the main governor spring locked off.

I like the positioning of the turbo. be nice to see it poking out of a bonnet scoop

you wont need a 11mm pump mate will be overkill they only fit 11mm on a peugeot when they fit huge turbos

cant wait to see it finished though

its not overkill at all mate . if you have read the pug forums they are full of conflicting ideas and theorys that dont work in practice . As a result with my own research and info that i payed for from a guy in canada that builds high performance fuel pumps I have been able to build a fuel pump that is able to provide enough fuel at the top end of the throttle opening and then run lean enough to give good economy at small throttle openings . basically i thaught it was going to be as simple as strapping a bosch pump from a 306 dturbo on it but there just isnt enough room for the lda, also the turbo is oversized for the engine in standard trim but i am planning on a kkk k24/26 hybrid turbo for my nex engine build along with the pistons machined to allow a compression ratio of 20:1 and then i will be able to blow 30psi of boost throgh it and buckets of diesel from my 11mm pump . i have actually been looking at a 14mm head that they use in ammerica on the cummins 4bt lumps for drag racing , that might be overkill lol

You don't, I had a 306 with a tuned 9mm pump running a Subaru td04 at 35psi and still had plenty of fueling

If you ever need any help with tuning it or getting more out of the pump like taking the rev limiter up to 7k just drop me a pm ill be more than happy to help

my governor spring is completly locked of with a spacer i made on the lathe, also the springs on the pump head have been shimmed to stop the cam plate from floating on the rollers this will allow the pump to let the engine rev untill the valves float. This combined with the 11mm head and the DI principle leaver will allow me to have access to the eqivelant fueling of what the lda will give me at full throttle, it just means that instead of the boost controlling the fuel my right foot will be controling it. The injectors are also going to be fitted with merc 300td monark nozzels and be set to 185bar. This is a very simular setup to what i ran in my abl engined transporter untill i converted to mtdi. basically the 11mm head will provide me with a very crisp throttle response and will enable more diesel to be injected in a shorter space of time wich is a big benifit to a high reving diesels efficiancy . i am not using an LDA because of space issues

Best project on metropower

Only point I would make is the exhaust needs to be bigger esp the downpipe, bigger it it the quicker the turbo will spool, and fit a silencer the straight through type dont restrict

planning on a 2.5" side exit now with no silencers. I had a 3" straight pipe on my vw transporter with no silencers and it wasent loud untill you floored it. I will be ordering some mild steel 63mm x 1.5 erw and some mandrell bends . the project started off as just fitting a small t15 sized turbo with low boost lol I have ended up with a k03 turbo a front mount intercooler an 11mm fuel pump . so much for a small increase in power . thanks for the comment

i have found this thread of of a vag diesel forum that i used to hang around on when i had my vw transporter td. having worked on both the vw abl/jx/aaz engine and the peugeot tud3/5 the piston and combustion chamber design is pretty much the same and also the orientation of the exhaust and inlet are ppretty much the same , this is leading me to think that with some work the tud5 engine will produce simular sorts of figures as the vw jx 1.6td engine that many people praise for being a good lump

here is the link and i think if i produce this sort of power alot of vvc owners will have there bottom lips on the floor lol

just to update i have got another engine which i will be fettleing around with instead of having to take my daily driver apart . i have decided to stick with the k03 blower standard conrods but i will be machining 20thou off the piston crowns making them slightly dished to lower the compression ratio and of course new gastkets, rings, shells and tappet shims cambelt and filters
