Elite Veteran Posts: 732 Location: Towcester | Have you tried a photoshop of the wheels to see if you like them first? Sounds pretty nice but could be an expensive mod if you are not sure. Will

Veteran Posts: 422 Location: Herne Bay Kent | Depends all on ur offset to get the width right and it looking smart I'm on -7 and u can see how much I've pulled my arches out if u want 8 then I would go no more than ET 0 otherwise you Will have to have bolt on arches

Veteran Posts: 422 Location: Herne Bay Kent | Bolt on arches are okay but not as a everyday day thing I was going to but don't think the would look good as I'm going for a more clean spec look now intesad of track but its personal opinion. 7jj are the limit with -7 offset I would say if u want to stay with standard arches but u always have to take into account how heavy the steering will be and u can't run standard 1.1 wishbones you will only be able to run gti spec or above as the bottom ball joints fall out as it has happened to be because of the strain it's under also suspension will need to be sorted etc also Not as easy as bolt on job like its overall costing me near on £700 to get my set up right with fitment, suspension, right size tyres, arches + paint and I'm only at the start of it

Regular Posts: 163 Location: Earl shilton, leicestershire | i will probs go 7 then and if u have 7 do u have to change the wishbones and ect... is it more hassle than i think

Extreme Veteran Posts: 539 Location: Swindon, Wilts | In all honesty I would not bother, you need to have a proper think you have changed your mind to many times imo, your arches will have to be rolled alot, you will have to mod a fair amount, 13x6 on stock steels will bring you flush with the front wing, 7" will be about the same on the rear, keep a usable hight and no arch mods will be needed.

Veteran Posts: 422 Location: Herne Bay Kent | I've changed my wishbones and track rod ends also your wheel bearings are put under a lot of pressure and I change mine every year and half ( front and back ) its a lot of hassle but can be done and maintained if u have continuous money flow and the tools for it I know Matthew kit is running banded steels so have a word with him as he may have a low offset because a it don't look like he has flared his arches where as mine and about 2.5 inches wider on the front and the backs will be going the same

Regular Posts: 163 Location: Earl shilton, leicestershire | i've had time to think about it hence why i asked and i think 6.3 on the frount and 7 on the rear will look good and im droping it abit as it is so high and plus it is my first car and im 18 dunno what will work or not

Veteran Posts: 422 Location: Herne Bay Kent | The front hubs sit further out on the front than the rear so that would be best look into what offest brings it flush with arches as it will save you the hassle of arche work

Elite Veteran Posts: 763 | I am thinking of banding the inside of the wheel 75mm and then using some hub centric spacers to fetch the wheels out to the edge of the arch, this will also allow some space for some sexy four pot calipers.

Extreme Veteran Posts: 539 Location: Swindon, Wilts | Measure from top of the rim to the edge of the arch front and back, then get that banded on, done. So simple to do with two people. @metrobruce ever thought about using classic mini alloy 4pots with special mounts? I have been looking into it as I have some somewhere

I have been looking into it as I have some somewhere thats exactly my idea you just need the space at the back of the wheel so when I make some suitable hubcentric spacers they will have 4x100 pcd . I think that I will be going this route in the future but most of my money is getting plowed into welding the floor up and making a roll cage, as well as making the diesel engine more suitable for a turbo, am having a profiled cutter made to shape the piston crowns at the minute, its just about bankrupt me lol
