Hey,

I would like to fit shocks to the front of my Mk3 Metro.
The reinforcement plate is welded in, now I need to get shocks.

On my MK2 Metro I run stock shocks that I measured, but for my Mk3 I would like adjustable ones.
Many of you use Avos or Gaz for lowered mini rears. I would like to use Protech Alloy shocks, but am unsure, if they will fit.

Stock                         212 mm closed 332 mm open
Gaz lowered             231 mm closed 347 mm open
Protech lowered      240 mm closed 343 mm open

So the Protechs are 28 mm longer when closed. Will this fit?
I don't wanna buy shocks that don't fit...

Kind regards

Richard

Hi mate,

I would have thought the gas ones wil fit, however from what I understand and know about shocks on land rovers, you will need to fit extended bump/drop stops to stop them bottoming out. This would cancel out the 9mm closed difference in size then.

How do the proper Metro ones compare? or the challenge ones. http://www.larkspeed.com/shopper/i/7GT62227/Rover-Austin-Metro-Challenge-Gaz-Shock-Absorber-Damping-Adjustable

Are there any experiences?

In R100_VVC turbo build thread I found this picture of AVOs, that were too long...

I use those lowered gaz mini rear shocks on the front of my blue A-series and they work nicely.
