Hi I'm Will I'm 29 and I now own a metro/ Rover 100...

I don't really know how it happened but I woke up this morning and its still here so it must be true...

This is the car in question:

And if you're wondering why I'm so surprised I bought a metro.. These are my current/ previous toys!

I will openly admit I know nothing about this Rover, other than it has a 1.8MG engine and it runs like cr*p...

What parts can I rob from MGF's to upgrade? I've read I can steal the brakes but is there anything else? My brother runs a recovery company and works very closely with an MG breaker so I have a good supply of parts

Nice selection!

MGF brakes will fit but you will need spacers for your steelies (unless you use part worn pads you could get away with it!)

Explain how it runs like crap? Not uncommon for the coolant temp sensor to be faulty (or someone mixed the plugs up with the sensor for the gauge)

It is very lumpy from cold at idle and cuts out, if you try to drive it when cold it judders the clears itself and runs ok.

Once warm it seems to be fine.. a little under powered for what I expected tho but I think that's because its not running 100%

I want wider wheels anyway as I intend on using it as a track toy so want some nice sticky tyres, so I'll grab a set of calipers and have a play

I would find the part number of the ecu and check that it is the right one.

also you could try changing the coolant temp sensor (the one for the ecu and not the one for the gauge that is mounted right next to it)

Welcome!

You'll need some ARBs for sure and there are some new thicker rear ones just been made by Component Engineering owned by Ralph on here. Original GTi ones are few and far between making silly money
