Sod raping an AX...giving your cousin a slap is the best course of action. How many single wipers have you seen on a Metro? Ever wondered why you haven't seen any?

Shut it you.

My point is that cars that come factory fitted with a single wiper were designed to have one, and the wiper arm, motor, mechanism everything was designed to function like that. A Metro on the other hand was designed with two wipers, so my point is that you'd possibly lose so functionality with just one.

Oh, and they look Sh*t.

A18 had one - Tho I think, personally they look wrong and it'd annoy the f**k outta me, having the wiper straight up the middle of the screen when it's off.

Two wipers, sit at bottom of screen, outta the way. Job done.

wipers always look crap.

one parked at the bottom of the screen looks better than 2 cluttering it up imho. rework the mechanism properly and itll do a full sweep in the same time the std setup does its part sweep, but because youre only dragging one blade its less work on the motor. half the wipers mean half the aerodynamic drag of them and half the windnoise.

single wipers sticking straight up the screen are bloody horrible though.

might be taking weight saving a bit too far

then again, with a good dose of rainX you dont need wipers above 60, not sure thats all that practical on the road though

Just wear a skid lid.

Obviously you'll want the rear screen out to stop aero problems. Would be quite fun.

It's a road-going Metro, Not an A1/F1 car, the "extra resistance" of two wipers is SOO tiny, it's ain't worth bothering about. You'd probably need to be doing around 190/200mph for it to even register. And lets face it, as much as I love 'tro, the only way ones gonna see that kinda speed is if it's dropped out the back of a Hercules Transporter at 60,000 ft

aero has more effect than people think.

Top gear did a study once (when it was still good) about driving with your windows down, using roof racks (even just keeping the bars on top) about how much it would cost per year in extra mpg. I think it was a good few hundred, if not more.

having the windows down uses more fuel to keep the car going than having AC on in the middle of summer.

The GTI front spoiler, side skirts and rear spoiler actually reduce the drag on the metro. Front spoiler probably reduces some of the front lift at speed too. Those are quite simple things bolted onto the car.

You could tell the plod that you're doing your bit to helping the environment with a single wiper

as john said, it does make a difference, youve effectivly halved the drag from the wipers, even though thats only a tiny amount over the whole car its still a difference.

the btcc cars probably only top 140mph on any uk circuit, which isnt a million miles away from what a heavily modified metro could do, yet they still use single wiper setups, and thats on cars already more aerodynamic, more powerfull and heavier than a 'tro.

if it makes no difference, why do virtually ALL modern cars hide the wipers behind the trailing edge of the bonnet ratehr than the anient metro style of just poking them through a hole in the bodywork in front of it?
