You wouldn't want that back straight to be any longer on that gearbox would you but then thruxton is exceptionally fast isn't it. That must be about 120. We used to run michelin slicks (part worns) on trackdays and they were worth atleast 20mph in the corners compared to a road tyre. Immense amount of grip. Are you running a piper exhaust cam? Or mike satur reprofiled full set?

Regular Posts: 132 | Thanks for the comments guys. The thing really is so amazing to drive though, short wheelbase, front wheel drive bags of revvy torque and at the end of the race i basically collapse through exhaustion ! through goodwood it was seriously close, i backed off the throttle while he got his back end out and i just waited. Obviously if i touched the brake at that point i would be harvesting half of hampshires wheat. The car is going to be back at snetterton for its last outing against the V8's again and doing the 4 hour relay, i want to do the lead leg and take on the field ! The engine has been fully stripped since thruxton. We have found 3 bent exhaust valves and 1 inlet, the inlet wasnt from the over-rev and had been like that for a while i think. All the valves had pickup on them i suspect from when it swallowed the brass throttle body screws at donnington in april ! they wern't seating well at all. One of the rings was also jammed in a piston with material. So we have honed it out, fitted new set of rings and shells, taken 10 thou off the head new valves and re-cut seats. new payen hgasket ect. we have just got the piper exhaust cam to fit in this time as-well. its a shame i didnt know enough about the mike satur company or i would have got them both reprofiled ! Before the cams were std. I definately think with these mods, hoping for a 7+ BHP improvement as the compression/compression ratio should be insane now. Anyone know about mike satur and there cam reprofiling ?

What about a janspeed 4-2-1 manifold? These help a lot I thought on my VVC. Well worth upgrading from standard. Epic driving BTW!

The came from satur can only be reprofiled so aren't going to increase lift. Just increase durations. As the cam phase trigger would remain in the same position I think the ECU would think it was running standard durations just that the cam profile is increasing the duration by an about of degrees. Glad to see that's a bog standard vvc (remapped) giving such great results.

Expert Posts: 8490 Location: Midlands | Actually looking at the information on the Mike Satur site:- "Specially developed by Mike Satur to improve the performance of the VVC engine (MGF VVC's & TF 160). Performance gains at higher RPM 5000 plus, a direct fit for existing cams. Supplied as a set of 2 Inlet Cams and 1 exhaust cam on an exchange basis. A surcharge of £100.00 plus vat is charged until old units returned in good order. SPECIFICATIONS: Inlet cam 270° duration and 10.08mm of cam lift. Exhaust Cam 260° duration and 10.16mm of cam lift" So the valve lift is increased from 9.8mm (iirc). However not sure what is meant by 270degs on the inlet as standard is variable between 220 and 295 degrees. Ive heard the standard inlet cam referred to as 260deg 'basic' which would point towards and increase in duration by 10 degs.
