Roversport replica Posts: 1788 Location: Norfolk | Fitted tyres today and tested out one on the rear, mounting holes aren't counter sunk yet so it's just a test. Not completely lowered since the front is jacked up. 20140731_174802 by stormgreygti, on Flickr 20140731_174855 by stormgreygti, on Flickr Rear fits perfectly in my opinion. Connor.

Veteran Posts: 335 Location: York, tis Cold Up North! | Hi Yeah it looks like rear fits well and means 'business' - will be good to see when on all fours at correct height you are seeking. Nice motor indeed and a credit to you for the effort you have put into getting it this far and the nice detailing along the way. MetroGaz

'88 MG METRO 1300 Posts: 1117 Location: Dudley, Midlands | "Toyo Tyres" sticker may have to go bye byes!? Hope it's not covering a scratch!? From those angles it looks like the wheel/tyre is slightly tucked under... could get away with a 5/6mm wheel spacer!? (depending on arch lip)

Roversport replica Posts: 1788 Location: Norfolk | Thanks for the comments I'm going to keep the toyo tyres decal because i will still use the SPi GTi wheels with those tyres I haven't rolled the arches so bringing the wheel out anymore wouldn't be ideal which is why the mounting face was machined down to give suitable clearance, which has worked on the rear (sticks out slightly further than the SPi wheels did with the Toyo tyres). The front should be level or there abouts. I will see when i've sorted everything. Connor. Edited by stormgreygti 31/7/2014 11:03 PM

Roversport replica Posts: 1788 Location: Norfolk | I was wondering when someone would spot that haha It needs a new one both sides, but i don't really have the time to take it off the road that long. Especially since i have other projects. But i won't ever be selling it so i'll have to restore it fully in the future Connor.

Roversport replica Posts: 1788 Location: Norfolk | Wheels have been fitted, looks slightly high on the front but the exhaust is a bit low so i can't go too much lower. Tyres need a clean and yellow tyre pen as usual I've included a couple of pictures for people to see the clearance on the front and back, the front sticks out ever so slightly and the rear sits in the arch, the tyre sidewall is close to the arch lip protruding inwards (unrolled). I need negative camber on the front to match the back so i might invest in some MGF bottom ball joints 20140801_180137 by stormgreygti, on Flickr 20140801_180220 by stormgreygti, on Flickr 20140801_181405 by stormgreygti, on Flickr 20140801_181317 by stormgreygti, on Flickr

Roversport replica Posts: 1788 Location: Norfolk | Thanks Currently the car is off the road, I now drive an mg zs 180 in the mirage monogram colour, which is very rare. The metro is due a full restoration which will be long term. I'm collecting as many original panels and items I can get. I have bought quite a lot from rimmer bros, full right hand door, rear gti tailgate door strikes, catches and latches, nuts and bolts, both front and rear lights units. I have bought two new rear quarter panels and a brand new front subframe from eBay in the past as well as front shock mounts to replace mine, tailgate seals and front and rear windscreen seals. 2 new radius arms etc. I know there is a lot of work involved so this will be a long term project. I'm hoping to go down the replica route again because of how rare they are and how much I've liked it. Connor. Edited by stormgreygti 21/10/2015 2:03 PM

Transport Guru MP Moderator Posts: 4947 Location: Bromley, Kent | I can only imagine the £££ you have spent collecting that lot together as rebuilding my front end on the GTi set me back quite a fair wedge, so for a whole car a lot more. James on the MOC with a mk1 Turbo spent 20k, but safe to know it's the best out there. We are lucky original parts are still quite easy ish to get hold of, perhaps odd early build trim etc.. Imagine doing this 15 years ago pre forums and ebay ...
