Expert Posts: 11052 Location: Wolverhampton | it looks absolutely bent, just like most of these cars on stupid wheels with no ground clearance which are covered in stickers pronouncing their love of speed bumps

Extreme Veteran Posts: 539 Location: Swindon, Wilts | I hate the above comment for the stereotypical answer, there is no defintioin to 'rat' look the stereotype is slammed, stickers ect at the moment, but alot of the original rat not stereotype is still out there, but if you look at the origin it was shit paint, big usable engine. mine is being patina/ratted, it has ground clearance (ish) and power, I love mine and couldn't care less about other peoples views. Your car you're choice

Elite Veteran Posts: 732 Location: Towcester | I kinda like the rat look, some of them are done very well and can go with it. Even fun reading some of the stickers. Not something I would do to my car but each to their own. Same with sleepers, anything that's not just following the crowd is interesting to me. Will

Expert Posts: 1228 | Personally, I think the rat look belongs only on vehicles that sit on a separate chassis, otherwise all that 'rust' just looks stupid. Not a big fan of stickers everywhere either, was quite cool until lots of people cracked on to it. That said, beats the hell out of the one size fits all Jap style bodykits that every sprouted up everywhere following the Fast & The Furious. God I hate those bodykits, make every car look like some big hungry basking shark or something My 1971 Mini 1000 was slightly rat looking, but that had got there by naturally aging and never being re sprayed in over 40 years - proper patina can't be beaten

Elite Veteran Posts: 763 | my personal opinion about the rusty rat look metro is, you cant afford to join the vag gays with their rusty dubs. but having said that I do love the post appocolytic look of the stuff on mad max films, is this classed as the rat look too

ADMIN Posts: 2366 Location: Chesterfield ish kinda sort of | Leave the rat look to American cars of the 50's, Where it belongs. As for VW owners... BAAAAAAAA, They're like sheep, All have to do the same thing and are shunned if they try something different.

Expert Posts: 11052 Location: Wolverhampton | I agree with above two posts. Also it's not that different if it's been done loads before. A little bit too much form over function for my tastes

Forum Admin & Insurance Guru Project Pride Posts: 5690 Location: Durham - North East UK | I think they look shite, it's a death warrant on a Metro and as Petrol Head says it will last as long as the current MOT does in most cases. Natural patina on an aged car looks good, but too many people trying and failing to jump on the bandwagon by rubbing down bits of bodywork here there and everywhere and trying to pass it off as 'patina'

Expert Posts: 2907 Location: a pub in yorkshire | I like the naturally weathered look like you get on old American cars that have been sat in a dry dusty desert for the past 30 odd years. I don't like a modern car with a rusty bonnet and a wing covered in stickers. Don't get me wrong I enjoy seeing something different, but when people have to tell others their car looks good and that they arnt bothered what people think, it generally means they are only trying to convince themselves, and they only do the rat look because that's what the cool guys do. Oh and cars with lots of stickers look good, because that means race car Edited by Tom Sanderson 29/12/2013 10:24 PM

MP Admin Posts: 17870 Location: Gloucester | It CAN look good! But in most cases looks terrible, tacky and basicly says i don't want to spend a penny on my car. IE, matt black paint, no fluid, steel wheels and some stickers off ebay. The death sentence comment is true, think all the metros that were rat look before have been scrapped.
