I'm trying to wire up an eBay radiator fan to a mems 2j vvc r100.

Haven't had a good look yet but I don't recall there being a connector for the fan in the converted loom. I do remember a spare pair of bullet connectors on the loom down near the gearbox. I've always assumed these wires were possibly for a different type of sensor on the gearbox but could these be for the fan?

Any ideas or advice please?

Can anyone help with this please?

What should the fan wires look like on the converted loom please? - Do they break out near the gearbox reversing light switch wires?

Thanks!

Think the bullet connectors are for the reverse light switch for a pg1 gearbox. Im sure the fan connector does break out of the loom somewhere in that area. Iirc you're looking for a connector similar or same as the one for the charcoal cannister.

There is a wire in the engine loom to signal the fan relay (its an earth switching from the ecu), its either a slate/grey
or grey/slate depending where the engine loom came out of, ie MGF, R400vvc, BRM. You need to make sure you have the correct
wire as it could be the security wire that is either on pin 13 or 17.

Thanks to all for your help.

I don't recall seeing another connector like the one pictured? I bought the loom already converted from a member here. The car runs with little fuss even though I've got a converted 56mm TB so I don't think there's any issue with the loom. I definately have 2 pairs of bullet connectors in the gearbox area. One pair is connected to the PG1 and the other pair are loose.

I can't get near the car until Sunday now but I'll update this post when I can.

Thanks.

Hi

The plug on mine is just what you would find on any R100 Metro as it is the original type plug that connects to the fan.

Update..

I had a look earlier and the spare wires I have are a royal blue with a grey stripe and plain black. The wires currently going to the PG1 gearbox switch both have green in them. Is this correct?

Thanks

Sounds like the blue/grey is the fan relay trigger from the ecu, its a earth trigger (to relay conn 85), so you need a ign live
(to relay conn 86) or use the brown/pink wire from the charcoal can if you are not using the can.
The 2 wires with the bullit connectors to the g/box are the reverse light wires, Iirc green/yellow, and green/brown.

Bit of an update with this fan...

Basically the fans not cutting in at all.

I definately have the reverse connectors right as I get reverse lights so I can rule out using the wrong wires there.

I've connected the remaining wires so they're matching (blue on fan to blue in loom + black on fan to black in loom.)

The fan is 100% working as I've tried push and pull polarities directly off the battery. (Ebay slim jobby)

The only other thing worth mentioning is that I have a remote PRT fitted and NO original stat. As far as I can tell there's no air and everything seems hot.

Tommorow I'll try Daves suggestion but does anyone have any other suggestions or ideas?

What colour temp sensor should I be using? I think its a brown one at the moment.

Thanks
