this is my baby its a 1969 vw beetle 1300
brought it about 3 years ago. im the third owner and it had only 79k on the clock with full history to back it up! its only ever had 2 small rust repairs done by me before i owned it. it was a bog standard car untill i got my hands on it. all the work was done by me.

anyways heres the specs so far

1300 engine stripped and rebuilt into a 1641cc
ported/polished heads
webber carb
uprated dizzy
electronic ignition

suspension is lowered by 8 inches all round!!!
front
4" narrowed beam
2.5" drop spindles
steering arms flipped upside down to clear body
kyb shortened shocks
135-80-15 tyres
headlight bowles modded to clear tyres

rear
dropped 3 splines
notched and lengthened springplates
shortened shocks

plans for this summer are to go lower and narrower! anyway heres some pics

thats a nice looking bug! but i dont do air i think its pointless. if you cant drive a car that low then you shouldent lower it!

been busy on this over the weekend again. more parts more working out and more work and its lower again!

first pic is the front beam with a pound coin resting against it

and this is how it sits at the moment

next on the list is a engine/gearbox raise and the i can drop the back down another spline.

How do you even drive it on the road that low? surely it scrapes and smacks at even the slightest of road repairs?!

I think it looks awesome, and fair play for driving it that low all the time, just gotta hope you don't get a puncture!

thanks for the comments. yes i drive it like that all the time! i always wanted the lowest beetle in the uk and one day i will be the lowest. future plans include cutting the front of the chassis off and raising it 2" to give more ground clearance on the beam then i can drop it another 1"

will be updating this very soon! mot has run out and the tax is due end of the month. so gotta get it through another mot wich means replacing my front axle with a standard one and undoing all my work at the rear. then once its tested i can do it all again. same routine every year lol.
also just insured it again as it ran out costs me £98 a year fully comp agreed value of £3000. win!

once its tested i will be doing a bit more work like painting the front wing - i hate it!
rebuilding the engine as its been getting a bit warm on long journeys (got boxes of big bits!!!!)
raising the engine and box 2" to give me more ground clearance
raising the front section of chassis to get it even lower!

It's a shame you have to do all that work for every single MOT, must be a bit of a ball-ache after a while, keep us posted on the progress. Can't complain at that insurance cost, how old are you?... if you don't mind me asking.
