The alternator has probably seized so was just the belt burning I would think.

Car covers are evil... Rub the paint on every edge that protruded and doesn't allow the car to breathe either hense the mould. Prob best to just wash a car and leave it be over winter tbf. Make sure its rust proofed and rot free prior to leaving it stand and it should be fine over the winter. If there is rust and rot it will be worse after the winter.

It's only really light marking as the cleanser I used literally cleanses the paint so it's not too bad, and the mould has only happened this year, last year it was perfect as I removed it every couple of weeks and let it our out, my own fault really

Braved the cold for all of 5 minutes earlier to do a few cosmetic changes.

Firstly I was getting bored of the blue dash surround and my Trophy wheel is starting to look tired, so I replaced the dash surround with the standard item and fitted the TF wheel I recently took off the TF. Will look at getting a Rover airbag for it as well as the gubbings I need to wire the airbag in. I also need to source a new set of vertical temp/fuel gauges so that I can get a new set of silver Lockwood dial covers and refit my round dial cover I had on before.

I also test fitted my NOS grille. Now I know why I never changed it before, because the front end is still as twisted as ever and a standard grille (ie not f**ked) doesn't fit correctly. As my current one is missing the centre mounts I can get away with it but with the new one having these mounts I get this sort of problem

But here it is fitted to the car, not sure whether to remove the slats and mesh it, as well as the bumper, but I'll decide later on.

Next job on the list is replace the alternator as I have found a spare and see if it runs ok, as well as a service and fluid change, clean the front seats and remove the rears, and get some sort of stereo in it as it currently has nothing.

I'm starting to add to my repair panel collection too as I have bought an inner rear valance repair panel, on the look out for an outer valance and then see if I can pick up some cheap sills later on

Coming on very nicely Andy. Absolutely adore this car... beautiful!

Interested to see how it looks with the standard black grille bits from a distance too... I preferred mine like that than with the mesh

Bring it on

Well it runs fine, needs an alternator fitting and a service but at least it starts on the key still Rear brakes and handbrake need replacing/looking at as they are binding due to sitting so long.

It will be taxed for the start of April so I'll have it on the road for at least a month, depending if I can get decent insurance quotes when it runs out the end of April.

The LH side wheels are damaged too, I think chemically, so I'm in two minds whether to get them down to City Powder Coaters and get them redone.

Fingers crossed the ZR has stopped playing up so I can concentrate on this now

Did a bit of work to it over the weekend, after I'd realised there are only a few weeks til PoL

Fitted a new alternator and belt (cheap from Best of British if anyone is after one)
Fitted a new battery negative to slam panel earth lead as mine had broken off previously
Realigned the O/S front wing so that it no longer sits on the a pillar and the bonnet shut lines are slightly better
Fitted my NOS front grille which involved realigning the whole front end, really need to organise when I can fit the new front panel

Next on the list is the rear handbrake mech in the drums as the O/S sticks terrible, and see if I can reuse the handbrake else I'll get a new one. Then I need to give it some fresh oil, coolant, and give the ignition components a look over, hopefully the fresh oil will get rid of the awful tapping I'm getting but I was expecting that considering its stood for 5 months.

Then I need to repair the O/S front wing where it has rusted on the lip and also the sill on the same side as that has some corrosion on, then start work on the interior and paint, oh and get my wheels repainted.

What a shed

Do you still want some panels?

Btw, you know I think that I have only just realised that you don't have any rubbing strips fitted

I brush those comments off now too used to them!

They have been off for ages but still have them in the garage. If I can straighten them and repaint them I'll put them back on at some point

Wheels are at the powder Coaters now

there's nothing wrong with 13's! although your car looks abit silly with them on for some reason. i think its the silver, or the fact they're flat. if you do manage to find a set of tahiti wings then let me know, i need a n/s one!

looking forward to seeing this at pol, if i manage to get mine looking anywhere near as shiny as yours il be a happy man

I prefer mine without rub strips as well.. made a bit of a mess getting them off though

Not as bad as when I de-badged it though

I damaged the paint on the car when I took mine off too which is why I want to get them back on when I ever sort the paint out

Had a tinker with the rear brakes just and it definitely needs a new handbrake cable. The O/S rear spring is constantly compressed so theoretically it never releases the handbrake on that side fully.
