I set about changing my oil but found out after changing the filter and draining that I hadn't any 10w40 - it's a 1.1. However I was able to make up a full load from many part-cans of 5w30 semi synthetic. Anyone else run a 1.1 on 5w30? Anything to report? Mind sounds ok on it but it is very cold out. The oil that came out was like tar and it wasn't that old.

My brother has been using 5/30w oil in his k series ZS for years and thousands of miles and is a very sweet engine hot or cold (120k engine)
So yes will be fine, probably a better choice in this time of year

Thanks - I thought that the lower viscosity would not be a problem in winter. I'll leave it in.
