I just wanted to present my little "informational" centre console project.
I like it retro but will not use cassettes any more so the original centre console is useless for me. Many of you use the AX centre console as an upgrade. These seem hard to find and never pop up on ebay in Germany.
So I decided to work on the original console.
What I wanted, is to see the oil temperature and the lambda value without cutting the dash and if possible removable.
So I use a MGF oil temp gauge. This should work with the sensor in the oil filter head from the MGF which is a direct replacement and keeps the costs down because no adapter plate is needed.
To hold the gauge I used a piece of carbon. It's the first time that I worked with carbon and I was surprised, how hard it is to saw!
Now it looks like that:
I know it's not perfect and not finished, but I am quite pleased with the result.
Next thing to come is the display for the lambda value.
For the lambda value I'll use a wideband lambda sonde with an Innovate LC1. The values will be display on a small 2-row LCD.
To give a uniform look, the wooden applications on the dash will be replaced by carbon! |
