My mate has a blue RS. Hand on heart it just screams Chav with some money to me, prefer understated cars personally

Fantastic car though! Could only afford to insure the 1.6 Zetec Climate though...

Quite like the Focus ST, although probably prefer the way they look in standard trim but hey. Drive my sister in laws one whenever we visit her in Sydney, they really do go rather well. Just a shame NSW has retarded speed limits.

Dad's go a S2 V12 as well, although not running on NOS or on steroids

Such a smooth, accomplished car, brilliant for touring long distances in. Not particularly brilliant on fuel though...

Not keen on the new shape one, it looks like a fish and not very mean. The old shape one is much better and I went in one- flipping fast, but hates 1st gear.

They share the same platform (and share it with the S40 as well), but totally different engines. Not sure on the details on the suspension etc, but would be surprised if they were identical, particularly given the differences in the engines.

Styling is very much a personal choice. When I first saw the MK2 Focus I wasn't that impressed and preferred the MK1, now much prefer the MK2 over the MK1. I wouldn't say I'm in love with the look of the Focus, but there are worse cars out there. Mazda 3 as far as I'm concerned is just another generic Japanese car.
