Hi all,
I want to upgrade the rad in my GTi track car, I know a diesel rover 100 one will fit but they are hard to find. Will a MGF rad fit ok, I'm gonna fit an oil cooler in there as well and assume that will fit I front of it.
Thanks, Terry
You dont need to fit a oil cooler, I never did on my VVC trackday R100, hottest oil temps seen were 135deg, no problem with
synthetic oil, we used to validate the VVC 143 at 150 deg with a mineral oil when I was at MGRover, the only reason the VVC
160 had the cooler was because the oil temp went slightly over 150 deg on high speed testing, and even then the cooler was
fitted at the back of the block out of the main airflow, I dont even run a cooler with my 1.8 20vt conversion as the oil temps
rarely go over 135 deg and thats with a turbo adding heat into the oil..
Yes a MGF/TF rad will fit, see the sticky to how to fit and keep the bonnet lock. (I have one fitted to my conversion,
but I can mount it a bit further back due to the exhaust being behind the cyl head). |
