I got hold of this metro in a swap, lad wanted £350 or it was going to the crushers, it didnt have an engine so offered my barn gind mk1 that had an engine as a straight swap (more chance of getting the price he was after!) initial plans were a B16a, but couldnt find one cheap enough, so currently running a 998, but have sourced a written off civic as a donor car, which is fitted with a B18c4 engine...

Few pics

Wheels are banded 12x7

Currently running a 998

But soon to have a heart transplant with this...

Should surprise a few people

Im goin to leave a deposit for the civic this weekend, n hopefully have it back at my unit by end of the month, i can then begin the strip diwn of it and prep my mock build blue mk1 metro (i still need a car to drive), so using my other metro thats unroadworthy to get everything lined up and fitting well before transfering the whole lot onto my road car! 1 thing i know i need to source is an
Mpi fuel tank, unless i can use an external electric fuel pump and modify the existing tank to take a fuel return pipe, but i can worry about that later!

As with all previous builds, ill be documenting this build with plenty of info and pics as much as i can

what sort of power will you be running in that?

how do you make sure that the rim is straight in all directions after welding in the band?

The rims are machine cut and jig welded and are 100% (or as close to 100% as you can get) straight and true, i didnt do the banding though, alonzecustom.co.uk (geezas names jim) on facebook did them, top quality welding, no sealent needed unlike some of the companies out there, 100% leak free and pressure tested too!

The B18c4 should as standard run about 169BHP, so should make for a very mental metro! Haha!

And how could i ditch any of the interior trim?! It would destroy the charm of the car, (plus the massive steering wheel will help with parking due to the wide wheels) lol

aah right. that must also make you feel more secure driving with them also the weldings look top notch, nice that they are presure tested, would be annoying if they had to be sealed to hold air.

with 169 hp for a 800 kg car I dont think you need those 10-20 kg yo would gain removing the seats that will be a little rocket.

you can get smaller original steeringwheels

Steering wheel is staying the huge bus type for effect (and i love it!) lol

The wheels cost me £45 per wheel to be banded, alonzecustom.co.uk on facebook, blokes names jim, best bander in the country in my opinion! Comes recommended by myself and many many others!

Cant wait to get the civic home! If all goes to plan, and its a problem free build, ill be driving my 'tro with the B18 by summer this year

Ive sourced a complete but rear ended civic, which is fitted with the B18c4 engine, so ill pass, but thanks for the offer on the B16, if i can do it successfully, it'll b a giant killer, summat that dont look much other than an old metro, but a monster underneath

Engine bay will look a little like this when fitted (except mine will b tidier!)

(B16a fitted to a mates mk1 metty)

I can see that your mk1 has the servo-less master cylinder. how does that work for you, brake ok? how much force required to brake hard? still four pot brake callipers with solid disks?

The servo doesnt actually do much, all the servo does really is reduces the amount of pressure needed for effective braking, its solid non vented discs at the mo, but i have a set of 4 pots ready to fit when the B18 is fitted

yeah I know. if you have tried both systems (a-series with and without a servo) do you know how much force the non servo system require extra compared to the servo assisted system?

but isn't the callipers allready 4 pot only non vented so "slimmer"?
they were on my blue a-series when I first got it, that was also non vented, but with a servo.

Id say its about twice the force braking wise without servo, glad i have this system tho as the B18c4 engine will need all the space it can get lol

Come to think of it, i think mine does have the 4 pot non-vented brakes, i only changed the discs n pads only the other week so i should of noticed lol
