I was wondering whether anyone has had need to either replace the seals or replace the whole master cylinder on their 1993 1.1 Metro? It's the type mounted directly above the servo. I am going to service my brakes soon and wondered whether there is any point going that far. ALSO - the square adjusters on my rear brake shoes appear to be siezed. Is this common and what did you do about it? My brakes have always been poor but it passed the MOT ok. They need loads of effort on the pedal. I've looked on eBay but cannot find a seal kit for a 1993 1.1 - any suggestions for a source?

ebay has them cheap and rimmer bros has some genuine master cylinders. regarding the brake servo I have not been able to find a rep kit any where but rimmer bros has new servos but they are expensive.
the adjuster normally ceases in the threads yes. if you can work the adjuster screw out even though it is stuck you can clean and grease the thread. new ones can be bought at rimmer bros but are the ones fitted to MGB's also so should be easy to find.

if the brakes require a lot of effort to be effective I would guess its the servo that is worn.

Late mini servos seem to have the same shape and might be adapted and also the overhaul kit might fit...

I removed the seized rear adjusters. They are just bolted to the back plate. Then they can be soaked in penetrating oil and heated up, which helped in my case

good advice

regarding the master cylinder rep kit I have bought a rep kit for one of the mini master cylinders which looks like it might fit my mk2, but haven't tried fitting it yet. hope it fits.

Thanks. I plan to do a big brake overhaul in the spring and will give this a try.
