My mate has used brentacre for the last two years, says their really good.

http://www.brentacre.co.uk/

'Brentacre cover modified cars all makes & model’s on a brake horse power limit basis, which allows the vehicle to be modified up to the agreed B.H.P. limit with all other cosmetic & mechanical changes, at no extra cost, (and unlike others we don’t charge admin fees when you advise us of mid term cosmetic mods).'

Just have to say thank you for this thread as I took the suggestion to call Grahm Sykes for insurance on the VVC that im about to buy and with no NCB and Breakdown Cover and Claims Managment it came to a total of 460.00! very pleased.

Thanks again!

Greenlight on one and a clasic policy (name escapes me atm) both through Flux.

Can't understand how you lot do modified cars for £495... I was lucky to get £600 on my 1.4 ZR with 5yr NCB... everyone else was quoting £1k+

That's the price you pay for living in Ghetto London \ Essex

Was ringing around quite a few recently trying to get classic for my MG, they all seemed to want me to be 25.
However, if you're below that age as I am, I now recommend Footman James, who despite according to their website do not do classic for under 25's either, they sorted me out over the phone no trouble at all!

It has to be 20 years or older. Depends on the car but that's what it has to be for metros. For example classic minis can be newer than 20 years old to be classed as a classic.

I just started a new policy, I got a bargain imo. It was with Equity Redstar through Adrian Flux. £674 for a track spec VVC with all mods declared.

I've always wondered who's been the youngest to insure a vvc.I'm sure posting your age when you speak your quote will help

I'm getting quotes of 4k for a 1.4 25, so god know how you guys get VVC Metros.

I only have had my licence for 15 months.

I am old and been driving for years. Only recently have my points also come off so until they did, I was paying 1400 a year with my NCB going up each year and the quotes staying the same!

Now I have my insurance for £750 fully comp with a BHP limit rather than all the mods seperately covered and they just list the mods so then they can be replaced if needed.

Who are you insured with mate? Never heard of a BHP limit before. Out of curiosity, what is yours?

Well here is an interesting one... I am currently struggling to re-insure my Rover 115SD that i have had for the 7years! I currently have it listed as part of a multicar policy and is coming in at £268. This is based on me being aged 27, and Spolier and MPi wheels declared. Not horrific however the other car, my BMW isnt coming in as a great quote therefore i have been looking at insuring both cars separately. I have been getting quotes of over £550! The big name companies simply do not want to touch it... be it the age or modifications im not quite sure! Now awaiting a call back from Flux to see what they come up with. With 4yrs NCB id be expecting to insure a VVC for these crazy prices... not a 1.5 non turbo diesel!!

Anyone know standard classic car insurance?

Just tried myself, classified as a young person on a classic car on a J 91 Metro Gti and its classic group 4 and they wouldn't do it. Any ideas?

Cheers

What would you imagine I will be paying when my current policy runs out? In march I will have three years ncb, had licence for 4 years, I am 23 years of age, one NONE FAULT claim in feb, no points, living in BL4 8.. 1992 metro c red three door modified with vvc 1.8 arbs, tf front frame, LSD box, electric windows, gti interior, skirts, 15" comps etc etc, what would you be expecting to pay? Because I have to admit I have had a few quotes for an idea and am getting quite worried not sure whether to do the build.

I'm insured on my J reg 1991 Metro GTi under classic insurance and that was when i was 18, am 19 now so will be renewing it in December.
Not sure why they wont insure you. My car isn't listed as having no modifications, i have changed the exhaust since i took out the policy so will tell them when i come to renew.
Otherwise mine is completely standard apart from the individualising.

not as low as i was hoping for but after shoping about for some time its the best i could find
now i have no exuses to get the mot sorted haha

thay also quoted me 480 for my landrover difender so if i was to take that it would work out as only paying £25 more a month than i pay now and i would have the metro on the road aswell

Has the policy owner got to be a certain age?? Being 18 and owning a GTa (seem to be the only cheap 100's around), insurance quotes for me are ridiculous, and footman james won't insure mmy car as its 15years old, metros have to be 20years old to be covered on their policy

EDIT: just found this on peter best' website

Standard vehicles – no modifications
All drivers have held a full UK or EU licence for at least two years
A single speeding offence within the last 3 years is acceptable; any other convictions are not
No fault claims within the last five years.
Maximum of three named drivers in addition to the proposer
All drivers must be at least 25 years or older
All vehicles must be at least 26 years old
BMW’s restricted to a maximum engine capacity of 2.0L
Vehicle is used for Social, Domestic & Pleasure use only including commuting to and from one fixed place of work
Cars must be garaged or parked on the drive – street parking is not permitted
Mercedes convertibles must be garaged
Vehicle is not to be used for weddings
You must have access to another car for everyday use

They've just quoted and insured my R100 Ascot, 1.8 VVC conversion no problems at all. It isn't cosmetically modified atall tho. Maybe its the amount of mods and type of mods that they arnt interested in quoting.
