thanks guys tank did get a bit scratched up getting it back in tho and the pipes didnt line up great to the filler pipe so had to get some bars to bend them out a bit, but got there in the end
and you cant have my wheels David tho I do think your car would look very nice with them on!

tank was a bit of b**ch getting back on, had to lower rear subframe and getting the filler pipe back on was even more of a challenge but got there in the end, i didnt manage to get the pipe back in like this

had to put the pipe in place in the arch then slide the big main pipe over with some grease to slide it over. then i thought that was it, she'l be pretty much ready for MOT now, but then notice my brake lights weren't working! checked bulbs, fuses, wires with multimeter so it had to be the switch which it was. wasnt to bad a job to do after taking the seat and steering column cover off

like my mirror to see brake lights?lol

Powerflow exhaust just freshly done ...

waiting for MOT next to classic lil xr2 in top notch condition dont see many around these days, I thought they looked good together

and here she is after passing her MOT 1st time, back on the road and at home at last

but on sunday, was taking my girlfriend home and it popped a pipe off to the heater matrix in the middle of nowhere luckly i had a bottle of water in the back but no tools (sods law, i normally alway carry some in the tro) it gets hot quick i thought anyway and fans still kick in shortly from start up, was thinking its a sensor issue so been fiddling and trying things today, left it running to see if thermostat was problem but front pipe did get hot so dont think its that and there doesnt seem to be any air locks, turn her off checked oil and then took oil cap off to see a bit of steam coming out, so think i have dreaded HGF

Ahhhh dude! this has come on so nice. That 3rd from last picture has the same vibe as the photo of Dans with the drill in it... that thing that makes you realize why you love these strange little cars!

Keep at it buddy, amazing car

The wheels look very nice, i like the ride height although maybe slightly lower on the front would be good
But still it's very clean

Thanks guys!
yeah it is a bit high Connor, I pumped the front up to get it on the ramp for the MOT, tho i am preferring driving it like this as there's so many of thos annoying raised in the middle speed bumps around here, handles really well like for some reason too, maybe the higher pressure. I'm thinking of pumping the back up a bit to match the front, this should make it faster in the real world and takes the stress of worrying about denting my downpipe or anything else away a bit

I'm not sure about the spoiler tho, I think all the fast and modified metros have em, I also like the simple look of the arse of my metro also keeps the weight down a tad + i only got r65 box so i wont be going fast enough to worry about aerodynamics. lol. I do like how yours is looking tho Dan, was what i was planning on doing back in the day with the colour coded fin bit looks good mate

Next jobs-
head gasket and all the bits that are recommended to do whist doing this job, hopefully this will also sort out my fan on problem too.
MPI fuel pump.
re waxseal.
get and fit some front dampers.
fit my rear GTI cans.
and my rear anti roll bar.

had fun driving it today with no probs after bleeding and making thermostat open before setting off, just had the usual fans on problem. Had a few people try to race me, lol. one in a lupo GTi, not a chance! one in a sporty citron DS3 coming onto a dull carriage way, dont think they were expecting it lol. So much fun and its not even got MPI fuel pump in yet or rev counter so going by ear not getting to rev's up to high, love the facts its quick as it is and still got potential

got MPI fuel pump in now, and its amazing how much difference its made!! also got my fan for heater working in all 3 positions as i found a brand new resistor in one of the metros from that scrap yard. and got her waxoyl today too
My next jobs are to fit new MPI hoses and new clocks i also got from that scap yard

MPI pump

new resistor from scrappy

in and working

old original was a b**ch to get off, had to snap it off as bolt had corroded so bad and re drill new holes next to them

next jobs, from scrappy
MPI hoses

clocks

just dont know how to get that mileage barrel out as its crimped in without damaging it, i'm hoping to put the barrel off my 110 clocks if possible

bit of an update as not done one for a while, got new Osram night breakers bulbs which i would recommend with a nice white light

old and new:

old original bulbs were getting pretty poor:

new clocks put to the correct milage:

in and working :

a few of the bulbs need replacing (top left and clock):

new tires - falken ze912's, which i'm very happy with can get power down much better now

also pumped the rear up as well now, rides much better now and dont keep rubbing arches when the going gets rough

Also started work with the arb yesterday to realise its not just a simple bolt on after reading the how to guide on here, so maybe have a go later with wheels off and brake drums

Also my mate at lotus has got me a 2nd hand alternator heat shield off an elise so hopefully get that fitted tomorrow aswell along with a new alternator hopefully. the one i got from halfords last Aug the regulator seems to be on the blink! so should get moneys back then shop elsewhere!

all this good weather recently means my tro is running again after buying a scrappy alternator and fitting it on monday it started 1st time after a few months, didnt even need jump leads. enjoyed driving in this perfect weather with the windows down whist booting it under bridges, forgot just how good it sounds!
brought seats a while back, thought i'ld try them sat on the floor think i need to get harness's before fitting them, i also need runners too.
I also had a quick go over with my new polisher today on the sides as they had alot of scratches from going through country lanes, new they look and feel really smooth n shiny now with no swirls, i really need to do the rest now!

new toy

UPDATE: Metro in its new house

Yes nothing has really changed since last time i posted! but i now finally got it back to our new house so i don't have to travel 15miles to work on it anymore! it wasn't so bad when i lived at my parents as it was just walking distance away...
It was a bit of a worry driving it 15 miles on dual carrage way on a shagged alternator! I charged a battery to get it home and had a spare charged up just in case! had to disconnect my rad fan to save every bit of power as i still got the prob of them being constantly on
Anyway since i had it back I've wired in a diagnostic loom (cheers again Adrian!), added a alternator heat sheld ready for a new one and renewed insurance for another year so hopefully things will start moving again, tho now i got a baby you never know! Glad to have it out of the elements this winter and no more weather permiting working on it sessions! yay
