Hi all,
I bought a MK1 MG Metro off ebay over a year ago as id had a few when younger (now 41) they were and are a great fun car i always had a big smile when driving them. I have now completely stripped the car and after sandblasting it is now having the body work sorted. I intend for it to be a road legal track car, the engine will be a heavily modified A series, though ive not decided exactly what that will entail yet any suggestions?

Im having the car painted in its original colour of Opaline Green and the MK1 Decals going on, with all the non stock kit going on such as roll cage and wheels detailed in red. Hoping to use the forum for tips and help along the way as this is the first rebuild ive ever done.
Cheers, Dave. Pics below!

Wow looks like a wicked project. Not many in that colour.

Start a journal and loads of photos

Great start to the project, always best to get cars blasted back to bare metal, then at least you know exactly what needs doing. Are you going to get it dipped after completing any repairs before painting?

Thanks guys for the comments,
Ill set a journal running when I'm back from holiday after next week.
Re the dipping I contemplated it but probably won't, however it's gone to have the bodywork done at a top notch place, no expense spared. It started out as a tester project as I plan big things on other cars, but when I realised how few mk1's were left things changed. It wil be mint and solid!
