Hi All,

MEM3 rover 100 k series 1.8m vvc issue

Wonder if any of you have come across this issue I am having battary drain issues when the purple plug is connected up to it's socket in the attached image as it still seems to be powered (very faint buzzing sound heard) even though the ignition is off.

any ideas ?

Many thanks in advance for any useful input.

Correct me if i am wrong here but i think the plug is for the stepper motor? but not s100% sure.
The relay for it might be faulty but you could try unplugging the ecu for about 10 mins.
Then plug the ecu back in and start the motor up but dont rev it just let it tickover for a while .
Keep us updated what happens ,Coz im intrigued

It's normal to hear a buzzing from there a minute or so after it's turned off (engine not running)

But not draining the battery though. Iirc the wrong MFU can cause it keep buzzing non stop until the battery goes flat

Its the ecu still keeping the brown/pink wires powered up for @ 5 mins, this happens on all sensored
wires like throttle pot charcoal can, coolant temp, oil temp, this is so as the ecu references the
idle valve to be in a start position for cranking, this is normal, it wont drain the batt so long as
it powers down, if it doesn't, check you have the correct MFU fitted (YWB100970), if you have, try
another one, you may have a sticking ign relay inside it.
Easy way to check ecu is powering down, connect a voltmeter or led to any of the Brown/Pink wires
on any engine sensor as mentioned, bulb should go out after @ 5 mins with a Mems3 ecu.

Thanks everyone for your comments after disconnecting the ecu and leaving for a while seems everything is okay as buzzing stops after 10 mind as suggested. . Maybe it's something I have not noted before but seems all good now. Thanks everyone!
