Location: Radstock | Hi all,
My metro has been standing on my drive since last summer, I need an MOT - but I need to bed the brakes in - the front discs have a light coating of rust- what is the quickest way to bed the brakes in ? I cannot go for a long drive as I don't have an MOT nor TAX.
but would like to bed them in - then arrange the MOT
cheers
Shaun

Location: leicsestershire | Just book it into a far away mot station, don't attract attention and you should be fine. I've just collected a zr that had been stood for 4 months and with a bit of left foot braking they were fine after 5 miles |

| Your brakes would have to be really poor to fail the MOT, a little bit of left foot on your way to the station and they'll be fine. |

| I agree! Light rusting can be got around by a few applications of the brakes and I have taken cars for MOT with lightly rusted discs and they have passed as the peppering of rust does not upset their operation. Disc brakes have been exposed to the elements since they were invented so expect to be outside. Good luck with the MOT - usually it's non-brake based rust that is the problem there! |
