Member Posts: 66 Location: Cannock | Hi All, Just looking at buying some track biased tyres for the summer and wondered if anyone has had good / bad experiences with Kumho Esta V70a or Yokahama Advan A0048R tyres. Also wondering if as my car is so light as its stripped out to the minimum if I need to run soft or medium compounds. As always, useful comments very much appreciated Thanks

The soft compound is fine on a 1400 and would cope with a VVC but the total grip level doesn't really differ all that much. The effect is more to do with warm up time, probably not an issue if your just doing trackdays rather than racing. Pretty much all the racers run them, although I have also seen a few Avons appearing. The Toyo is reported to warm up faster but also goes off sooner. The new Nankang ones are supposed to be pretty good too, though I've not tried them myself. Edited by 1380racer 1/3/2016 11:18 PM

Elite Veteran Posts: 697 Location: leigh | I was looking at getting some tyres for my 14s.. looks like most of the "track" tyres don't come in 195 45 14.. I will probably end up getting proxies and being dissatisfied with my self because I could be running racing car tyres lol

I got some to go on mine I soft compound. Previously ran 048's on my mini, good but shit in damp/wet conditions

Transport Guru MP Moderator Posts: 4947 Location: Bromley, Kent | I have some Nankangs for sale that I did 380 miles in last year mostly motorway on my Metro GTi and found they gripped superbly and tbh I don't think my driving was anywhere near their grip limits. Look in the for sale section.
