Seconded, lovely work. Did you relocate the washer bottle to inside the car?

The screen wash bottle is just one of the cheap ones of eBay but it does the job and fits nicely in the wheel arch:

My brother got new seats for his integra. So got his old seats for the metro:

I love these seats. They hold you really well are comfy and are alot more practical than fixed bucket seats!

Thanks! Unfortunately life has got in the way. I have been working on my house, finished 2 other cars and I have been working on setting up my dads new bodyshop business. Not to fear though. After my holiday which was a road trip round europe in a limo I bought which ended up at the nurburgring. It has got me wanting to get the car back on the road. I have got more plans for the car and hopefully be working on the car soon.

update time. Been meaning to do this for a while. I got sick of the car and decided to shelf it for a bit. In September after a going to a couple of car events i decided to get my car ready for an event at the beginning of october. The car had been sitting for a while so i decided to give it a once over. Unfortunately i the first thing i found was one of the brake master cylinders leaking.

The master cylinders had only done 500/600 miles and were knackered. I did a bit of reading on compbrake master cylinders and found that they were prone to premature failures. So i ordered up some AP racing master cylinders:

they are smaller than the compbrake one's and are alot better quality!

the one issue i had with the AP cylinders was that because they were smaller i had to make an adapter plate up to fit them:

they fit nicely and give more clearance to the underside of the airbox:

while i was working on that i decided to remove the pedal box. I had been having issues with the bias bar had been adjusting itself due to the vibration while driving. So i made an adjuster nut and a locking nut for it too:

i also done a bit of grinding and welding to make the bar more adjustable:

with the brake bleed up and sorted it was time to move on the the next problem. I have been having issues with fuel pumps on this car. I am on my third or forth walbor and this one was playing up to. Sick of dropping the subframe and tank to check the pump i decided to cut the floor and make a plate up for easier access:

after checking the pump over i decided that it can't be all the pumps that were faulty so looked at the wiring. I found that when the car was running the wires to the pump were red hot. So i hooked the standard pump wired up the a relay and ran a supply from the battery to the pump with higher heavier cable:

After doing this the pump was running like normal again. Another problem fixed and on to the next one. I had an issue with the speedo drive. The drive gear in the box had teeth missing and was stripping speedo drives. I took the box out and replaced the gear:

Back together thats another issue out the way the speedo the working perfectly now. I found out that my fuel pressure regulator was a fake so decided to change it. I opted for a k tuned regulator which is a tidy bit of kit:

i then booked the car into at JDM dyno in kirkbride for getting the final mapping done.
fueling up before i left dumfries:

Car made 212bhp and 170ftlb at 8000rpm. Needed better tyres because they kept spinning on the rollers from about 7000rpm making it impossible to map the car safely at high RPM. So its on target for 225/230bhp once I get that sorted which is about right for the spec I've built the engine to.

Disaster struck on the way home. I hit a pothole and one of my fuel rail mounts snapped off:

i had cable ties and remounted the fuel rail which got me home.
I made some new mounts up and got a friend to weld them:

Unfortunately cause the fuel rail was porous the welds were leaking so i decided to make a proper job of it. I bought some extruded fuel rail:

I then took the rail to a local machine shop for them to drill the injector holes and thread the ends for the AN fittings.

fitted up with no leaks it was on to getting so grip for the straight liners quater mlie event at kirkbride. I want to go for yokohama A048's again but they are way over priced so i opted for federal 595 RSR. They are brilliant for the money.

I took the car to the event but didn't do well. The ground was wet and it was cold. My best time was 14.11 at 97mph. The worst thing was i could have done with more rev's cause when i was changing the car was coming just out of the power band. It should a be an easy fix now that i have better tyres i can get it mapped at the higher rev's.
The other thing the quater mile highlighted was dispite it having a 4.2 final drive it is still geared far to high. At 8500rpm in 5th the car will do 174mph. Good bragging rights but just not usable on any track or quater mile. So i done some working out:

Unfortunately the only root i seem to be able to go with the gearbox is a quaife gear set. I just don't have that sort of money anymore and can't justify the cost. Its a shame cause if i could gear it down a bit it would just complete the car.

I should have some more updated on the car over the next few months.

On your sheet you list 50 profile tyres.

With a 45 profile on a ZR 160 box you'll be @ 156mph 8500RPM
With a 50 profile on a ZR 160 box you'll be @ 161mph 8500RPM

Use the Mfactory gear calculator to check

Sorry my bad. Yeah i have 195/50 15 tyres on the car. I have got my final drives mixed up on my sheet with a 3.9. The car was crossing the finishing the quater mile just on the limiter in 3rd at 97/99 mph.

I've been having a think about the car since updating my build thread and its made me realise how little spare time and money i have now to enjoy and work on the car.
My car is well known locally and i get asked all the time if i would consider selling it and my answer has always been no way in the past. But i have been asked a couple of times recently if i would consider selling it and my reply has been possibly. Its now got me thinking. How would you go about selling a car like mine:
sell the car as it sits now?
sell the rolling shell and engine gearbox seperate?
fit a 160 engine and sell the car running?
break the whole lot into bits?
I know will regret selling the car but i would prefer someone got the use and enjoyment out of it instead of the car sitting about not getting used for 11 months of the year! I currently work seven days a week between two jobs and i have put in for a new job but there will be alot of traveling involved and working away which mean even less spare time!

Any advice from you guys would be more than welcome!

With so little spare time its a good job this project is pretty complete, means you dont need to be working on it all the time yet you can still enjoy it when the time is right. If you sell who knows, yo might start to feel like another project and spend another chunk of money. I'd keep it dry, garaged and pampered for a few years. Plus I'm on a major budget this year so if you do sell/break I'm not allowed to buy anything

Keep the car! You've but so much time and effort into it and done a great job! Fair enough your busy now but the car won't go anywhere stored and as munday says its at a finished point. My car is garages most of the year take I think I have had it on the road for less than 1k miles in 6 months that just makes me enjoy it more when I do take it out
If you do decide to break can u have dibs on header tank and oil catch tank.

The other problem is i have another 3 cars and 3 motorbikes sitting getting neglected too. I use to have time for all of them. Any of us that have started to modify our cars know that a project is never finished. I can think of alot of things i could still do to the metro but then i think when will i have time to do it!

I'm sure as Liam can vouche, and lots of people with many other cars; nobody, nobody at all looks after "your" car like you do/ will. You know the car, you built it, you know it's vices.

Maybe have a lay back from it and then just crank it out when Summer is here and go for a blast? At least make it to PoL.

I need to have a think about it. Since i have posted up about selling it i have been contacted by a few people now wanting to buy it. So looks like selliing it shouldn't be a problem the way the car sits. I know roughly what the car is worth in bits. I just need to come up with a price i want for it if i decide to go ahead with selling.

Be wary...lots of people talk a good game but few actually can produce the money at the right time.
