Long time since I made any update-worthy changes!!
But I do have a fresh MOT after a very minor fail...
suspension needed pumping up off the bump stops, so individualised it too while the chance was there!!
Oh, and chassis upgrades due as these arrived today:-

Finally got round to doing 'things' on the Metro.
The above bushes have already been fitted a couple of months ago.
Rear anti--roll bar with polyurethane bushes was fitted today with one of Ralph's kits.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not the nicest of surprises when the drums were removed...
front drivers side shoe was in upside down, wear only on 1/8 of rear shoe...
both passenger side shoes were upside down, wear only on 3/8 of rear shoe...
1 out of 4 shoes in the right way up, and only using 1/8 of available braking surface!! OOOPS!!
Neither inner or outer arch has ever been welded though, which was a nicer surprise!!
New stripes added just before POL.
R100 sill covers, easier to extend than GTi ones!
I like the read stripes, looks good, not sure what I think about the sill covers, I guess I will have to see them on before I know
They'll look better than the GTi ones I think, much more subtle!
Fills in the gap, makes car look a bit lower... and hide the messy looking sills!!
Another pic better showing the stripes along side. (Shame the compression tones down the striking redness though!!)
Fitted my low temperature warning light the other day,
and today routed and mounted sensor probe and control box, and tested it.
Also fitted spotlight and foglight brackets and housings, (no lights in them just yet),
edged number plate left a mm or so to centre it, (one of those things that bug me!),
and disconnected headlight resistor while bumper was off. (which is a good thing!)
It's not for coolant, it's for outside air temp, so an ice warning.
Heads up at +5ºC, caution at +2ºC, and a warning at 0ºC.
You know how the headliight bulbs come on dim with the sidelights turned on (on the 1-piece lights)...
that's because there's a resistor that allows a low voltage to the bulbs...
gives a yellowy glow, even with blue tinted 'daylight' bulbs and LED sidelights...
I HATE that... so it HAD to be unplugged!!
A-series bonnet vent fitted. (Passenger side only at moment)
Definitely rams more air in and increases the cooling breeze aimed between seats for NuNu.
Lights look much smaller and better without the covers.
LED bulbs in spot lights compared to sidelights only... bloody useless!!
OK for posing I suppose, but crap for illuminating the road ahead!!
Normal bulbs compared to main beam in brightest part of the day.
Yellowy tinge doesn't look as good, but at least they do the job!
Not done much for ages... no money!!
Did get a dog guard to keep little Timmy off the shelf though.
Crap pic of it actually fitted, but does (sort of) show the twin boot lights.
have actually been looking at that dog guard on ebay. I would use it to keep the dog in the boot rather than off the parcel shelf but nice to see it fitted
Would be easier to fit for a start!!
Keeping dogs on back seat means shelf stayed...
so lots of measuring to cut 2 holes in the right places...
more measuring to extend holes into slots so shelf still lifts up...
and maintaining a small but even gap when up or down!
Time consuming and fiddley, but think I've done a good job of it!?
Busy day on Thursday (by my standards).
New steering rack, new track rod ends, O/S top balljoint NOT done - turned out to be a Mk1 version I had...
but did find a tiny split in outer CV boot while attempting balljoint, enough to squeeze the grease everywhere, so did that!
Set tracking without the right tools, but it's damn close, and much better than before.
Collected my new wheels, would have got hydro pump too but had no room left in the car with the 2 dogs as well!
MOT on Monday, then we'll see what kind of mood I'll be in over Christmas!!
sounds like a lot of good jobs done on the car where did you find the new steering rack?
what wheels did you buy?
Rack was on ebay, they're not difficult to find here.
This one was cheaper than most though, and close enough to collect and save courier fees too.
Not newly bought wheels, they're my steelies that were rust treated and painted up.
Had wanted to fit them Christmas Day, to achieve something on the day most people achieve nothing...
not sure I will now... might wait until MOT'd with new balljoint and tracking checked, maybe lower it too...
then I can fit them and go for a drive on my birthday... time will tell!?
Apparently, not only is Christmas a Bank Holiday... it's also a Tyre Bay Holiday!?! That's just not on!!
But here's what I've had done:-
Take a set of 4.5" wide MG Midget Rostyles and a set of 6" wide Ford Wellers...
some chopping, grinding, drilling, (and swearing!), lots of measuring and adjusting, (and more swearing!!), then some welding and painting!!
(the Rostyles have no tyre bead for tubeless tyres, so simply banding them wasn't an option)
Dodgy photo edit from the trial fit to check clearance and fine tune offset.
MetroGaz - My two waiting for you to pick em up in that smart MG
Aww, little cuties! Sure my NuNu and I would get on great with them!!
Timmy, however, would bark if they got too close to his big sister! Very protective of her!
And he turns positively savage if he sees another dog while he's in the car... guards that territory well!!
Either that or he's just a complete nutjob!?! But at least he doesn't get car sick, thankfully!!!
Deflated, vacuumed, and pumped up rear suspension in preparation for the wheel change.
BEFORE
DURING
AFTER
Then went and got tyres fitted and put a pair on the rear. Fronts don't clear yet, need to fettle with the arches.
This was O/S/R tyre!
Also made a start on my stereo blanking plate. (Thanks to a dash cut from Frank Mallia.)
Made a piece to block off the heater box outlet.
Updates for journal instead of just being on FB.
Front wheels were fitted too.
Front suspension also vacuum pumped.
Whole car then pumped up.
550psi in the front and 400psi in the rear makes for a firm ride... but bloody good handling!!
