Yeah it does have immobiliser, it cuts the starting circuit... but unfortunately still allows for bump starting... hense why the 5AS system was implemented on the R100 range. That's great thanks. Going to have another look tonight if I can get myself a light source.

Elite Veteran Posts: 703 Location: New Milton, Hampshire | Any recommendations for getting shit out of the spark plug hole? C4 has some saw dust looking stuff in there and I'm scared it will fall into the cylinder if I take the plug out

C4 has some saw dust looking stuff in there and I'm scared it will fall into the cylinder if I take the plug out Turn the car upside down and tap it so it all falls out? Lol Ermm, is it actually saw dust? Will a hoover nozzle at the top have enough suction to pick them up or maybe if its just crud suck up with a drinks straw then spit out? Not nice but if nothing else works. Can't be worse than anti freeze anyway. Lol Just waiting for Ding to comment now lol

Elite Veteran Posts: 703 Location: New Milton, Hampshire | Unfortunately it was damp tissue/paper, stuck under the plug (WTF how did that happen) Had to let it fall in and then blow it out by turning the engine over BUT went to turn it over, nothing. Went through all the checks, looks like the starter motor had gone. Luckily it freed up when we hit it with a hammer.

Elite Veteran Posts: 703 Location: New Milton, Hampshire | Cheers Morey Itsonlyme, your gearbox would have saved me 5 hours of driving and £30 of petrol. If you didn't receive my messages, I'm more than happy to print screen them as I really do not want you to feel like I've mislead you. I did enquire on mg-rover and rovertech for a backup as things fall through. People become ill, get called away, ect. But you were my 1st choice. I'm hopeful you can accept this is a genuine mistake EDIT: In fact, you saved the day when I posted urgently looking for slave cylinders Back on-topic, she also got several fresh nuts and bolts as the old ones were rusty and rounding off. MP Admin Posts: 17870 Location: Gloucester | the 3as alarm box is above the metal cross member in your picture just out of sight. All you need is a working key fob and you can program the 3as yourself You can buy replacements here and retain your oprinal 3as box so you wont have to remove the box or the glove box. Just do the programming sequence which invlovles turning the ignition on and opening the boot a few times in a set order to activate programming mode, the horn beeps and the alarm LED stays on if you done it right. Had to do this with my K reg 1.1 when I got it as it didn't come with a fob. http://www.remotekey.co.uk/cars/rover/rover-metro/ PS, those blue connectors are everywhere in all Rover cars, they are basically one of these but for cars, it just saves on wiring, ie, one single wire from the fusebox then will supply a few power sources to more remote items like switchs, Also the same for earths to avoid many earth points on the car. The blue one in your picture I think has dash illumination and also the indicators. Hope that helps.

Elite Veteran Posts: 703 Location: New Milton, Hampshire | It wont be long before I need something else you'll have for sale Thanks Martin I have found the 3as and it is plugged in. Unfortunately my alarm LED doesn't light up at all, even when I try and enter programming mode. I'll grab another 3as next weekend and swap it over. Make's sense regarding the blue plug, a terminator as such. Will be a good place to tap into if I need some power Fixed my starter motor today, the connections needed a good clean

Elite Veteran Posts: 703 Location: New Milton, Hampshire | Did some work this weekend Swapped over the rear wiper motor, replaced the passenger washer jet and fabricated a link between the passenger lock and CL motor on Saturday. Yesterday a mate snow foamed her and I let him loose with his new machine polisher. Much to my surprise (bonnet was ruined anyway), he did a good job. Only had time to do the bonnet and around the petrol cap with the tough compound but will do a full job soon. Went out in the forest after so all nice and dirty again Edited by pqhf5kd 17/4/2013 8:34 AM
