sort of ranting I know but anyway
I bought a 75 tourer cdti because I needed to fit baby stuff in the car and the 400 wasn't big enough with an extra child in the house. also it has good fuel economy. I have been driving it a while now but what an annoying car. its slow, outside 2k-3k rpm the engine makes absolutely no power, the gearbox is clonky and crunchy and rough and takes quite a lot of effort to get in gear, the clutch is extremely hard. I liked the way the 400 drives so much better!
are they all like that?

haha
Sounds like you need a new air flow meter (just unplug it)
Clutches go heavy when they need replacement, normally the slave starts to go first.
You can try topping up the master cyl above the pedal and bleeding it.
Sell it quick!

will check the air flow meter and clutch. thanks.

cant sell it really. I need the space in the car. a land rover is way to expensive in every way as is the jaguar stationcars. and there is no chance of finding a montego or 400 tourer. so cant see that I have any other options than the 75 if I want a British and spacious car.
