Finally bit the bullet, now the proud owner of my little 1.1 rover 100.
As shes a project toy I'v always wanted to VVC it but I'v been offered a R75 with the 1.8T engine in.

So what will I need to drop the 1.8T in? As from what I can make out, I'v got the loom and ECU engine and box. So on the shopping list:
R200 gear linkages
Uprated suspensions and better brakes
Possible MGF subframe to save alot of bother.

But other then that I am now at a loss. I know they'll be alot of fabrication needed to get enough clearance for a rad with a fan.

I know there is a few already about so your opinions on how the drive would be greatful

Thanks
Matt

Hi

The R75 ECU will not work in the R100 and you need a different one - speak to ZnF for an Auto Ecu Mems 3.

Turbo Loom - Adrian SI

MGF Front disks, Calipersm, steering arms, ball joints etc.

MPI alloys or others to clear Disks.

Possibly a MGF Sub-Frame but some say not as the top arm is not very good and is off set and weak so a R100 with MGF rear cans in is better (my opinion).

Exhaust to suit Turbo outlet and CAT pipe etc etc

R75 gearbox no good so you need a R54u or PG1 and suitable flywheel/Clutch as R75 no good.

Oil Cooler and Intercooler need planning in from a space perspective.

Plenty more issues but all minor to above.

Ummm this sounds like it's going to be more ball ache then it's worth, vvc sounds the easier opinion by a mile as I can get a written off mgtf for about the same money as the r75.
Just not sure how easy it is to hit the magic 200bhp with the vvc engine.

HI

VCC can easily get 160bhp but needs a lot of cash (cams, reworked head, pistons, remap etc)to get it to 200bhp.

1.8T has 150bhp as standard on low boost and a £300 remap of auto ecu gets it to over 200bhp still on low boost.

It would be good for other VCC and Turbo boys to give their views and opinions here so we can all learn?

Turbo engine is the same to fit as a vvc, its only the fact u have to move the rads forward
so it clears the turbo which requires a little thinking.
The gains are superb with the torque you get. Have a look through my journal
as there's a few good pics on the rad being moved etc

Seeing as you have a rover 100 its even easier, i made mine difficult as i wanted to keep my mk3 metro front

I have a few questions regarding the shopping list for a turbo conversion:

What charge cooler are you turbo guys running?
I saw a setup with water cooled barrel type charge cooler from PWR (size 4"x6"?) with cinquecento rad and electrical Bosch waterpump.

The PWR cooler is not cheap. Will a chinese version like this also work?

Is it the same bosch pump as used for auxiliary heaters?

I know kmaps can reprogramm a MEMS3 ecu to control the electrical boost valve. Is this the only company that offers this?

Get your charge cooler parts from this place, http://www.frozenboost.com/air_water-ic/?osCsid=aaa98d731588de6b4110bd4002f8b7da
They are the same as PWR but without the name engraved in
yes a simple pump to circulate the water, Bosch pumps are good ones to get, mines 4 years old now and still good, even runs constant when the engine runs

Thanks for your response!
That was one of the companies I found that sells barrel type charge coolers.
