If I ever sat next to Alex Salmond on a train, I would have to ask him;

• If you want to go to University anywhere other than Scotland, will you have to pay International Student rates within the rest of the UK?
• If you are ill and need treatment and the best treatment is somewhere else in the UK, will NHS Scotland have to pay NHS (UK) for private treatment?
• If there is a queue for treatment, will the Scottish patient be prioritised behind patients from elsewhere in the UK?
• How will the Scottish Mail Service deliver mail across the remote parts of Scotland for the same price currently achieved by the Royal Mail universal postal service?
• Will the cost of telephone and internet services in Scotland increase as the price of these is currently shared across the UK as a whole?
• How do you propose the cost of the Bank of England underwriting Scottish debt is passed on to the Scottish Tax payer? Do you think this is even possible for a sovereign nation?
• How do you propose to convince the rest of the electorate in the UK to accept the Bank of England acting as lender of last resort and underwriting the debt of an independent Scotland?
• What would you do if the electorate of the rest of the United Kingdom voted ‘No’ to the above, either through a referendum or by voting for political parties opposed to this?
• How can a Scottish Government borrow money cheaply over the longer term when revenues (from oil) are diminishing?
• Would interest rates in Scotland be set by the Bank of England? What influence will the Scottish government have over interest rate policy which would still be set from London?
• Without its own currency, how can a Scottish government borrow money as a sovereign nation? If this is possible, will Scotland pay a higher or lower interest rate to borrow money than the UK as a whole?
• Would policy makers at the Bank of England have any obligation to set interest rates taking into account economic factors in a foreign country?
• If no agreement can be reached on keeping the pound and you decide to join the Euro, does having monetary policy decided in Brussels increase Scottish sovereignty?
• If you adopt a purely Scottish currency, will the currency appreciate due to it being considered a “Petro-Currency” and how will this affect the ability of Scottish companies to remain competitive in international markets?
• How much will it cost to set up and run a centralised bureaucracy such as the Scottish Inland Revenue Service, the Scottish Financial Services Authority, The Scottish Food Standards Authority and all the other centralised government bureaucracies whose cost is currently shared across the UK as a whole?
• Would Scottish fishing quota’s increase, decrease or remain the same? How and who will decide this?
• Will income tax need to increase to pay for your policies?
• If rates of tax are lower in the rest of the UK, how will you persuade wealthier people to remain in Scotland and pay higher taxes rather than living just across the border?
• If people move across the border, will house prices fall in the South of Scotland and rise in the border areas of the rest of the UK?
• If taxes are higher, how will you attract and retain entrepreneurs in Scotland?
• If banks and insurers decide to move their ‘Registered Office’ out of Scotland, how do you propose to raise taxation against these companies as they are no longer domiciled within your jurisdiction?
• Which navy do you propose to engage should Iceland launch an incursion into your sovereign waters over fishing rights as they did in 1958, 1972 and 1976?
• How will you continue to influence the decision making process in the rest of the UK in respect of infrastructure projects designed to link the UK as a whole such as motorways, airports and rail links?
• Do you expect to be a member of NATO or the G8?
• Do you propose to set up a Scottish Security Service to replace the work carried out by M15, M16 and GCHQ? How much will this cost?
• You have said immigration will need to increase significantly in Scotland as younger immigrants will need to help pay for the pensions and social care of a population that is older than the UK average. How much more immigration would be required compared to Scotland remaining within the UK?
• How will this affect the provision of services within these areas?
• How will this immigration be spread geographically?
• Should Scotland be admitted to the EU, how will you be able to implement an Australian type immigration policy as opposed to the open door policy required by membership of Europe?
• If an independent Scotland increases welfare payments, how will this affect immigration and the type of immigrants arriving in Scotland?
• Which do you think has more influence internationally; a country of 64 million people or a country of 5.3 million people?
• When travelling abroad, which consular and embassy services will Scottish Citizens use?
• There are four nuclear power stations in Scotland. Will the waste from these plants be sent to England for re-processing. If so, will costs be higher for a “foreign country”?
• Would a Scottish Government have subsidised home industries that were no longer competitive internationally to protect jobs?
• If the naval base at Faslane is closed and relocated to elsewhere in the UK, would there be any future for ship building on the Clyde?
• If an independent Scotland retains the Queen as head of state, what contribution will the Scottish Government make to the up-keep of the Monarchy?
• For other citizens of the UK who do not have passports, how will they travel to your country? What effect would this have on tourism?

He just wants a pay rise, a job for life and a massive soapbox to stand on.
Fact is, he will be so overwhelmend with the volume of sh1t it takes to actually run a 'country' rather than a glorified council,
They wont be able to do anything... ANYTHING AT ALL! any better

Some excellent questions raised there. The bloke is a complete joke who can't give a straight answer on any question thrown at him. The deficit gap for the NHS is shocking in Scotland, as is the amount collected in taxes vs the public spend.

Anyone who disagrees with his policy or gives facts about why his policies are set to fail are called 'bullies'

I do think it will be a NO vote, but it will be a very close run battle. Regardless of the outcome, things will never be the same again.

Something I just thought of (as a ex squaddy), what will happen to the Scottish members of the armed forces
currently stationed in England/English regiments abroad, will they have to leave and return to Scotland to form a
new Scottish armed forces?

The deficit gap [in] the amount collected in taxes vs the public spend.

Not actually true by either government's figures. Taxation per person is higher than spending per person in Scotland, its the same for England too. Wales and NI are the regions getting more than they put in, although its actually such a fractional proportion that the arguments really are a waste of time.

But then its never right to let facts get in the way of some Daily Mail style outrage.
