Right. I've had a full loom (body and engine ) with ecu 5as and fob stored away for around a year now... I've just fitted a vvc engine and box to a metro shell I have, wired it all up and I've got around 5 fobs from over the years! I thought it would be a long process of swapping batteries and seeing which one turns the little Red light off but it didn't even bother to come on! Turned the key and the engine turns over from memory if the immobiliser is on it won't turn over? Why is it not coming on? Is it going to provide problems in the future? I don't want to go for a drive out and it decide to activate it's self!
If the engine turns over, see if it starts then stops after a couple of seconds, if it does, then the alarm isn't turned off, or the fob/alarm/ecu aren't sync'd together, (make sure the fuel pump primes when ign is turned on, otherwise it will just crank over, if this happens, check correct MFU is fitted, YWB 100710 for mems 2j, YWB 100970 for mems3.
If it doesn't crank, then the engine is immobilised and you still need to check fob will turn LED off.
On initial fitting of alarm, or batt has been disconnected, close doors, and press lock button on fob a couple of times, this should work the central locking, when it does, leave for @ 30 secs while the led rapid flashes then slows down, when it does, unlock the car with the fob as normal and start the car.
