Hi, my name is Ben.

I reside in New Zealand and I am married with four children, I am an Auto Electrician by trade, and I come from a family of extreme Mini enthusiasts. Having driven Minis most of my life I purchased my first Mg Metro Turbo (MK2) about 12 years ago. The arrival of babies forced the sale of that car which was promptly raped and pillaged (although I believe the shell is still alive.)
I own a 1980 Mini LE which is a relatively standard 1000cc in an unrestored usable state that we use for local Mini club events.
Last year I completed a 10 year rebuild of a Mk1 Mini Race/Club car which that I use for hill-climbing and circuit sprinting.
After allot of searching, I found and have recently purchased another MK2 Mg Metro Turbo in Targa Red with Grey. The intention is to give it a quick tidy up to get it back on the road, before a more detailed restoration later on. (after the kids have left maybe........)

these are picture from when I first went to view it.

Cor that's a nice car! Welcome to Metropower!

Be sure to start to journal and keep your progress updated. Were Metros officially imported/ sold in NZ?

Thanks for the welcome. The pictures are deceiving, I will start a build thread and update you all there.

As for the rego, You can get a fair idea of the year of first registration by way of the letters on the plates, assuming they are original ones. That is all, if you want to find out more about cars by way of the registration, you just need to visit www.carjam.co.nz and run the plates.

I know of two red MG 1300s with NH registrations I believe they were among the first batch of MG Metros officially brought into NZ by ARG.
