If u remember I put Rover 600 wheelnuts on last week but I'm now gettin paranoid if they're safe or not cos they don't have that extra bit on like the old wheelnuts did and I don't want the wheel fallin off a 70mph

And below that is a pic of one of the knackered nuts - see how it's gone rusty, rounded and the dent in the top is from whackin it out the socket wiv a large bolt

having seen the pictures now i wouldnt trust them! my dad had similar nuts for his alloys and they made one of the threads in the hub to come loose by having to tighten the nuts more than usual because they were just pulling themselves through the wheel and could probably go right through in time resulting in loosing a wheel!

hth

The 600 nut is only suited for the 200/400/600 series, 25/45 zr/zs as they are all made with the round shoulder taper nuts, Metro/100 use the standard taper twin shoulderd nuts found on MGF, maestro and montego. It is not wise/safe to use either nut for a wheel that is designed to take the other nut, so only use flat taper nuts on wheels designed for them and nut on wheel designed for the round shoulder taper, as you will not be able to get the nuts to the correct torque setting(tightness) and after afew miles they will work themselves loose and one day you will find your wheel is over taking you down the road

Thanks for the info Matt - steel wheel is back on until I can get some proper nuts - fully cast metal ones not crappy top cover ones like the Rover OE nuts...

So MGF nuts are OK?

PART NO: C164/10F (Cosmic Racing)
i paid £10.45 for 4, so £31.35 for 12
i could buy a set and send them down if you are unsuccessful at a cost mind

Wowwww really not good! if you look at that nut you can see the rusty bit...that is all the contact area your nuts have, with the actual wheel locations...less than half you need with the collared nuts! Dont go chucking that into any corners because your liable to pull the nuts through the wheel over time

As a quick point how comes 'alfuds told me they sell the same nuts for the R100,200,400 and 600 - are they wrong or is there sum kinda univseral fit wheelnut???
