final drive ratios.

214 has closer gears. Probably perfect for you if you want to go faster down the strip

fantastic mate, i`ve just been trawling through search results there to try and find stuff out.

as a kind of springers final thought, what do folk recommend i do to remedy this gearbox issue? i need a box for sunday, i mainly do 1/4 mile stuff and my local race track you don`t break 100mph. whats best suited to me until i fit my pg1 with lsd?

and i take it the 214`s box will mate with my shafts and hubs? does it need to be a bubble shape?

The one to get for acceleration is the Rover 211 R65u, it's got something like a 4.2:1 final drive.

Yeah the Bubble 1.4 will fit with metro shafts etc all you have to do is swap the clutch arm on from the metro box to the Bubble box,

The GTi is a 3.7 fd and the Bubble 1.4's are 3.9 thats only 9 or 10% different so you will only loose maybe 13 mph off your top end of 130 from the GTi box.

Another final thought, if you are putting a PG1 from a BRM in then the FD is 3.9 and top gear is about the same as the top in the R65 so you will know what to expect.

If you are building the PG1 up from bits you can choose from a 3.6, 3.9 or a 4.2 FD and standard or close/BRM gearsets.
