A couple of videos of me racing on a track racing in my usual hill climb series although its a track this time (they call it a sprint).
I have never before raced on a track so this weekend gave me a total of 6 laps racing on a track which was fun but very different from racing on normal asphalt.

Again as usual lots of wind noise. I normally place the camera on the outside of the car to be able to improve the next time as I cant really see the road that good when it inside the car and the light annoys the camera and this gives a lot of wind noise.

My time in the first time was almost the same (0.8 second slower) as the guy in the Toyota Starlets time and he is normally quite good so I was please with this.

But then one of the Autobianci A112 drivers set a time that was 4 seconds faster than mine and I though How the hell did he do that, I figured that I must have been driving to conservatively although I didn't think so.

So for my final drive luck would have it that I had a little Fiat 600 to chase and I agreed with my self that I would try to skid the speed of with the rear of the car going in to the corners as much as possible and generally carry more speed through the corners which worked and my second time ended up being 0.077 seconds faster than the A112 drivers time which I'm really pleased with.

Looks good and must have been fun to do the circuit.

Great video as allways (slip a VCC under the bonnet and see if they notice?).

Here's a light hearted intended idea of imagining this is your Blue Metro 6R4/4M4 and you are at the helm!

It is actually Simon Mauger and Jon Hawkins on the Manx National Rally 2015 Driving Dennis Marshal's Metro 6R4 / 4M4 on SS7 Manx national Rally 2015.

Bet you like the accelleration of this under your bonnet for the Sprints?

glad you liked it yes it was very fun to try a circuit. I cant believe how different the asphalt is to drive on compared to public forest roads.

that does go quite well with that engine
I can read that its a millington engine, but what kind of engine is it based on and what size does it have, do you know? surely an original 6r4 engine has more power?

but yes it would be amazing with abundances of power so I didn't have to worry about good lines into turns but could power my way out of it

It was a 2.5 4 cylinder Millington Diamond Series II + Engine, extremely reliable and powerful.

Want one for my R100 but they are a mere £25,000 + Vat approx!

Great video, that looks like my kind of fun. It would be cool, (whilst it sounds kind of lame) to include the drive back through the pits. Purely so us peeps from the other side of the world can see what else turns up to your club level events...etc....

I actually do have video of the drive back through the pit. although its not nearly all the pit. By the way, hillman imp racers are super cool

Thanks for that, some very cool cars in attendance. Here in NZ the pits have more of a Japanese influence.

Yes i could imagine so as new zealand is much closer to japan than europe. In dennark in classic circuit racing its mostly porche 911's, lotus cortina's, mini's, imp's bmw 2002's, and a few datsun 240's.
