What do people do with their 1.6/1.8 conversions in terms of exhaust, use a standard mg or rover manifold, a aftermarket decat? A gti metro and down pipe or custom downpipes? Trying to find the easiest option

Easiest option is using a gti 4 bolt manifold, (also found on a lot of other 16v rovers) mated to a gti downpipe, cat and cat back.

I'm using an mgzr160 6 bolt manifold with modified zr160 downpipe mated to a modified zr160 cat and a custom cat back.

Gti system will be a little restrictive. Even more so if you keep the poxy 1.1 cat back. Ideally you want to be between 2" - 2.5" diameter.

On my 1.8 VVC i'm using the standard 4 bolt manifold, GTi MPi twin standard down pipe, De cat and a stainless piper middle box and back box.
I also have standard GTi cat back system aswell.

for info, all the 16v 4 bolt manifolds are the same for 1.4 1.6 1.8 and 1.8 VVC! So a standard GTi MPi has the same 4 bolt manifold as a 1.8VVC MGF or lotus elise VVC S1.

really early 16v Mpi 4 bolts manifolds from H to K reg are cast iron, 1993 they changed to tubular which flows slightly better.

Easiest option, is a Rover 16v 4 bolt manifold which is a easy find in a breakers yard, then a new GTi MPi twin down pipe off ebay which are a bargin £25 new posted! Then by a metro Cat back system. thats what ive done with my metro VVC. And I paid new double for my new gti twin downpipe they are so much cheaper now!!
