The orange reyland footage was at bedford autodrome doing the GT circuit. I did a track day there with redline magazine, and so I'm sure he'd have to be doing 140mph down that back staight to be keeping up with those cossies.

Sounding healthy, Harry. What FDR box is that you're using, or is it PG1?

its from either a 216 or a 416, cant remember which other than that it used to have a hydraulic clutch quite fancy the idea of a torsen diffed pg1, but really dont know whats invlved in fitting it, dont want to make the gearing any taller, and dont want to get stuck halfway through the conversion!

it does indeed sound awesome, so much better in real life than the vid. dont think its all that powerfull, the engine itself is still completely standard, but theres potential there for when its had some headwork. i think john would be the firt to tell you its only a quick map, and ive got a manifold and decat over the spec it was when it was mapped. still, its probably smoother and more driveable than a std gti.

Ian, you definately want some kind of LSD in there if you want to get good track performance. I remember driving Tim's carb (without going near its limits) at curb and the LSD was well worth its weight in gold. so much faster in between the bends where any other metro would have been simply spinning one of the wheels. Bit of a pain when going slowly though..

Oh yeah - That engine sounds good with standard cams and head - wait till you fit some cams to it

Just seen the video - thought it was some track stuff, lol. Pulls really well that engine from mid range, like a train. I was always dissapointed how it died off though top end. It always had a little flat spot around 6000rpm in steves and picked up a touch after it. Didnt have time to finish map as you said. Have you noticed that? Might be better with the manifold and decat though. The TBs did a good job of freeing the top end up, but a set of cams in there, even vvc exh, would make it so much better. (as you know)
