Sent an email to Lockwood enquiring about the availability of ANY kit for the Mk2 MG Metro...
was told they don't do them... but COULD make a 'custom' set for me!?

Now... if I strip my clocks, and send the original dial faces to them...
(giving them a pattern to reproduce and sell as many as they can)...
they are willing to make me a set in any style I can think of!!
Same price whether it's a simple switching of black and white, or something totally different!?

Anyone care to guess the price I was quoted...

and my 2-word response to reading that price?!!

That's the same number I was thinking!!
Bit over double the price of the equivalent Rover Metro/100 dials.
Bit pricey when it does them a favour by adding to their range...
but kind of expected!?

Its high for the first set because you are paying for the graphic designers labour, onces that layed out its very easy to swap colours and bang loads out, as you know mate

That much money could buy you a nice high lift cam, then you would have your eyes on the road instead of wondering how to freshen up the dials lol

Why not put a post on here asking who else would like one for their A-series and see what sort of price it would be for a group buy

Why would anyone pay the higher starting price when they can just wait and get 1 at their retail price...
and why would I deal with them now after taking the p*ss like that?!!
I'll do it myself if it comes to that!!

I think that's a fair price for a one off.

Look at it from their point of view, they're in the business to make money & dev costs will be a few hours alone. Then, the market for mk2 metros will be miniscule.

Why not fit GTi clocks and buy some off the shelf Lockwood dials if that's your thing?

Or, they're easy enough to make if you don't want them back lit - deconstruct an old instrument cluster, scan the faces in and edit in photoshop, print off on some glossy paper and you'll have something that is to your exact spec.

It's only the middle bit with the warning lights that's different...
the rest are the same shape and layout as the later ones they do anyway!
