Expert Posts: 5629 Location: Letchworth/Basildon | To anyone who keeps a Journal, I regularly check back through old ones for ideas or to see how a certain problem has been solved. Also provides a good history for the car if we ever come to sell (LOL yeah right)

Member Posts: 41 | I bought Cake Destroyers red Metro GTI (replica) shell. It was moth balled for a bit but now the weather has picked up the work is cracking on. Fuel tank has been re-painted, mint black carpets been through the washing machine and jet washed, Compomotives freshly powder coated in silver with new decals, centre caps, cut slicks, stitch welded front arms have been powder coated and fitted with poly bushes. Front and rear ARBS are being powder coated currently. 160 VVC is in bits, DVA head is stripped for all new gaskets and stem seals, new water pump, cambelt, tensioner, shells, head bolts etc. Lower inlet is being media blasted, lightweight flywheel will be going on with ARP's. Brake callipers have been stripped and sat in a bucket of malt vinegar for months, new calliper rebuild kit to be used when put back together and painted up with HT paint. Floors are all under sealed, although they already largely were TBH, interior floor has been painted and got some hard-core sound deadening mat (fuck me, it's heavy!). May have to pop some pictures up at some stage or, more likely, just expand up on Toms existing thread so it maintains a timeline and narrative of the car.

Started this today, until it pissed down as soon as I started cutting the rot out. Some of you may know these are the 'best' transit's around with the engines lasting forever if looked after, or not looked after. But like metro's they rot like fook. Didn't bother taking pictures removing the interior and floor.. but will when refitting it etc..

Elite Veteran Posts: 697 Location: leigh | That used to be my job.. my boss bought and sold transits (only smileys) and I used to weld the frigging things up! Not the most pleasant of jobs to be fair!
