Hi I just wanted to introduce myself, my name is Rob I have two Metros one is an original 1986 city x 1300cc 5 door model in Moonraker blue!, and the other is an original 1988 5 door Vanden Plas 1300 in two tone silver and grey. Both cars have required huge amounts of welding to keep them on the road, which has been very expensive!!! Both cars have had the floors, front ends and rear ends welded up. The disappointing thing appears to be that regardless of how much I have welded, that there are still several more bits found at the next MOT! People say I am mad but I refuse to follow their advice and take them to the scrap yard! I have rebuilt the engine in the city x (to its original spec) which now runs on unleaded petrol as does the Vanden Plas, which needed most components replaced shortly after purchasing it about a year ago. Both cars require yet more welding to pass the next MOT and I have a query regarding this on the technical forum so if you can help I would be most grateful.
I just wonder after this is done how much more could possibly need doing? I am getting to the stage where people keep pointing out what a shame it is that I am putting so much money into cars that are worthless regardless of their condition!!

Does anyone else have this problem?

Does anyone have any recommendations?

Does it keep needing welding in the same places - if so maybe it isn't being fully treated or summat and the rust comes back out?

I think I can answer that having run him to a garage to get a quote - The problem is that every time he gets a bit welded - another bit needs doing - I think he's just wonder what else might need welding!
