that ellow 6r4 looking thing. is that a rover 3500 engine in there or what is that? doesn't look like the original does it?

Yes, that is a proper V64V engine. There were various versions from a 2.5 to the international spec. Most have been rebuilt several times now by one of a few specialists so there are probably differences from the original as supplied clubman engine.

I spoke to the owner's father who was there, they bought the car with no engine as the previous owner kept the XJ220 engine he had in it.

It looks like a twin cam engine and not a four cam like the original 6r4 engine and it has a dizzy which I haven't seen in a 6r4 engine before.
