picked this up last week after i sold my ep3 while my other car is being built in england atm, i had planned to jus buy it and drive it but now its turning into a bit of a project... When i went to see it i wasnt really sure what to expect, ive had a forged motor before so had a good idea of what had been done to it and why, all i wanted was to make sure it was a clean shell and that it had been put together well and was driving well. I was shocked with how clean it is for a 98', no dents or dings, no rust and no patches (!!!!) and also drove like a new motor. needless to say i took it off him... and it wasnt til a few days after i realised how seriously nippy it was, shocking actually. anyways enough talk, heres pics of the engine rebuild, how it looked when i got it and what ive changed so far to make it more my own motor

heres the spec;

Engine:
-Wossner high compression forged pistons, comp ratio 12.0:1 , oe is 10.7:1 (part number 9039D020)
-Ported and polished head
-Triple cut valves
-Ported and polished throttle body
-Lightened Flywheel
-ARP rod bolts
-New head bolts
-New shell and main bearings
-Pipercross cold air feed induction kit
-Full stainless exhaust with de-cat and 4-2-1 manifold (will include the cat if you want)
-Triple layer steel head gasket (top quality one)
-Sump gaurd
-New timing belt
-New altenator belt
-New water pump
-New engine mount
-Refurbished starter
-Fan wired to a switch as well as sensor
-Block painted red, sump black and cam covers metalic silver.

Transmission:
-4 Puck paddle clutch
-Vtr gearbox (no grinding in 2nd). It gives a quicker 0-60 and still pulls well top end.
-Short shifter

and finally heres the pics of rebuild, parts that went in, how it looked when i got it and how it looks now

how it looked when i got it home....

then i went and bought these....

and now it looks like this minus stickers and old wheels

ive a few big plans but nothing too crazy as im saving all the craziness for my new motor, i go to pick up some gsxr throttle bodies in a few days then by then hopefully ive have picked which cams to go for then finally when i come to england for my new motor ill pick up an emerald ecu for this while im there. Will be getting it to the RR asap as im dying to know what its sitting at, thing goes like a beaten whippet

How were the rear torsion bars lowered? and what shocks does it have? Mines at about 60mm on a 106 gti rear beam with spax adjustables on which stiffened it up a bit
