I changed the head gasket on my sons 1.1 single point injection K series engined Kensington.
Oil in the coolant still ran ok.
I followed the Haynes manual to the letter.
All went without a problem - only had to buy the socket for the head bolts!

It won't start now. Spins over no problem, spark at the plugs, fuel to the injector housing (believe haynes when it says de-pressurise the system first!), plugs dry!

So I'm guessing no fuel being injected??

Any one any ideas?

Local garage want £40 to connect to computer plus a tow in fee before they can say whats wrong, I think I'd rather scrap it and start again.

Get some easy-start, it will always tell you if the problem's fuel or ignition. Take the air filter off, spray it in, turn it over, if it fires and tries to catch, then it will be fuel.
If it back-fires through the throttle body, then swap the plug leads around and try again!

Tried Easy Start - tried to fire but did not. Checked leads are correct as numbered on dizzy cap.
So is it not injecting or is the timing out by a tooth, or rather if the timing is out by a tooth would it not fire up? I'm sure the marks all lined up, but we all make mistakes!

OK double and treble checked and it was spot on. Charged battery and tried again.
Fired up and revved freely - would not tick over though. Adjusted throttle cable to allow tickover and all look ok. Checked fluid levels nothing amiss - spin round the block felt ok - head home and it dies and would not restart.
Parked up thinking Santa will bring my son a new car for Xmas.
Any ideas before it appears on ebay?
Clive old and aching!
