Elite Veteran Posts: 624 Location: Sleepy Ol' Suffolk | so whilst car was idleing it gradually died. now have tried the following with the help of tome bishop but nothing has worked thus far.. there is a sparking going to the plugs slight discolouration on the dizzy cap but cleaned the contacts up - what the life on these?? I have had all plugs out and cleaned battery earth is in tacked fuel pump is priming injectors are all squirting all it is doing is turning over and not wanting to start when it did die it wasn't a sudden stop it seemed gradual like someone was taking fuel away of starving it of something... any ideas that I could try? cheers

Elite Veteran Posts: 624 Location: Sleepy Ol' Suffolk | So have tried all the above now and nothing is working. new battery on now as well new plugs rotor arm dizzy cap fuel filter battery injectors squirting fuel pump priming as you can hear it and fuel is getting to the filter due to me putting it in the wrong way (arrow needs to face the right or the car as stated in the Haynes manual) all battery cables are in tack tried foot flat on the gas pedal when turning over - nothing only thing I haven't changed are the ht leads, would this really be the issue? finally at times it sounds as if there is a backfire when easing off turning the key anyone have any new suggestions??? im all out of them

Veteran Posts: 335 Location: York, tis Cold Up North! | Hi Don't quote me but can we have a corrupt ECU here? Sure I read something similiar to all this and Adrian Barnsley narrowed it down to a 'shorted' ECU. Just a long shot as you seemed to have tried the obvious. Gaz
