Hello,

I have a big problem in my metro turbo MK1 with the HIF44 carburettor because I can't adjust it properly. The car is very rich below 2000rpm even that it's full throttle in 4th gear the car doesn't accelerate.
Also when the car starts in 1st gear you can't push too much the accelerator pedal because the car stalls.
The car is fitted with LM2 wideband to know the air/fuel ratio.

The carburettor has been completely rebuilt without the poppet valve, new throttle spindle, the float adjusted as the manual says, etc.

The engine has been modified, and the compression ratio is 8:1, with pre verto lightened flywheel, 276 kent camsahft, 1.3 full roller rockers, LSD and straight cut gear set and drop gears, KAD pinion support bearing housing and more modification for engine reliability.
I have checked several needles, all springs and a lot of dashpot oils and always happens the same. I need your help because it’s driving me crazy.

I can add the air/fuel diagram get with the logger if it helps you.

Thanks in advance

Could be ignition or valve seating issues, is it the same hot/cold?

probably you have the wrong needle in the carb and need a sportier and more "pointy" needle.

I have previously used this site for needle comparison:
http://www.mintylamb.co.uk/suneedle/

and I have bought this program. it guesses the needle based on the engine spec. cant remember if it supports turbo specifications though, but is a very good needle comparison program.
http://www.winsu.co.uk/

by the way:
turbo-mini.com says the BDD needle is the standard needle and that the BCA needle is good starting point for a modified turbo.

The problem is the same hot or cold. I have adjusted the 0º point with the ECU because it was 7º advanced.

I also bought the WinSU, and its perfect to compare needles. I congratulate the person who did this great job.

Here you have the graphic to show the problem.

If i'm not confused the needle fitted carb when i got the graphic was BCA.

I adjusted the regulator at idle, but i haven't checked running. It ins't new, but I undertand that it increase the pressure as add boost.
I'll check it
