any amount of rust is repairable, just depends how much you want to spend out on getting it repaired, just got to consider if the amount required to spend on it is worth more than the car, do you bother?

Take mine for example, it's quite badly rotten, for me to pay a bodyshop to do it i'd be looking at 2000, on a 450 car.

But, if I could do the work myself it'd be a LOT cheaper and worth doing...

is it rust or is it rot if its just surface rust then you can treat it but if its rot it will need to be cut out and weld in new metal and can be costly

if its just surface rust clean it down to clean bear metal with a wire brush or wire wheel on the grinder would be best if you have one. then treat it with jenolite or other rust prevention then primer it and paint with a decent hard wearing paint like hammerite (do not underseal)

underseal can trap water mud etc in and make it worse. need to make sure its completely dry and clean for it to remotely work well

used to underseal mine in the summer when it was clean and dry, since then ive bougth some underseal paint (cant remember make, its one that always seems to crop up as recommended/best seller) and its basically a hard wearing paint, so much better than just a wax (will be using this, this summer) )
