there`s a p reg `97, rover 100 diesel breaking locally, i need a box urgently for my vvc track car as i`m racing on sunday. would this do the job?

No. The diesel engine is a Peugeot unit, and hence the box won't mate onto a K series.


Although I could be wrong.

GOOD R65 BOX THAT IS , INFACT IT'S THE BEST R65 BOX TO USE WITH A VVC ,IMO

i think the internals are the same, i.e. the cogs and whatnot but i think the mating face is different. i may be wrong. marc

Yep the internals are the same...it's the 5C35 box but with a different bell-housing to suit the Peugeot diesel lump. To change the bell housing it requires a gearbox strip tho

I think the final drive is a 4.2:1 as well.
I think the code is 5C42Y.

Ive got a 115 and its definately got a 5C35...it would never cope with a 4.2:1 ratio, due to the fact it doesnt rev high enough to pull much more than 45mph in 2nd gear. So with a closer ratio box you would be changing gear even more often than you already do and flat out at something like 75mph i would expect...
