Sprayed my cam cover this weekend to perk up the engine bay. used vht wrinkle red paint but its came out more orangey red than bright red but its still drying and can take upto 48hrs to dry fully.

Cleaned the car today aswell and a quick hoover out, put on a metro badge to that i sprayed satin black

Changing the rad next week as mines not cooling properly and has a slight block so hoping that will cure my problems with the cooling system!

Pics of the cam cover.
After first coat

Back on the engine still drying tho so hopefully the wrinkle should be better once dry.

Couple pics after cleaned it and with badge on

MPI's on looks much better in the metal, crap iphone camera.

In other news im changing the clutch monday as its nearly gone, was dragging first now slighly splipping and the release bearing is making a horrible noise. Also the headgasket and radiator needs sorting too hopefully will do that shortly after.

Got the clutch changed today and found the release bearing had nearly failed so was lucky i got it done! no pics as i had no time to. clutch feels alot nicer now and the bite is much lower as before it was right at the top. Got the headgasket and rad to change next will do that within next couple of weeks

Luckily I was parked under a tree at the time but it still got hit quite bad now it's covered in dents on the roof and bonnet got hit on the boot lid to above the rear light which is noticeable devalued it abit now I reckon also.

How did yours fair?

That was the problem the pieces of hail were massive, wouldn't of been so bad if the hail was normal Erm I'm trying to get it done this week while I have work off but keeps raining so I'm hoping it will stop soon, but if not then by the end if the month should be.

Here comes a not very exciting update but orwell.

I've gave up trying to fix my current engine done everything to try and fix but no help and its now not far from dying on me.
i picked up a another low milage 1.1 (36k) so thats going in till i can afford to go for either a gti engine or 1.6 next year, i recently bought a mpi r100 and stripped that of all its mpi parts ready for when i convert over
done a little work to the new engine today with new water pump and thermostat, going to use the clutch on the other engine as its covered nearly a 1k so no point in getting a new one. once the old engines out will need to swap a few parts over but no biggy, going to hopefully get it all done next weekend if all goes to plan which it never does
Also sold my MPI GTi wheels i wasnt liking them all that much and they all needed new tyres and couldnt afford a decent set of tyres for them, so back on steels till my others wheels are ready

few pics:

Old water pump needed changing badly, was full of crap behind it when i took it off!

Another set of wheels just need painting gloss white, there in primer atm.

First update in a long time, been busy working on the car over the past few months but have found some time to upload some pictures.

Have now fitted 1.4 16v GTi SPi engine which has made the car alot nicer to drive and goes somewhere now i gave the engine a full overhaul before and after it was fitted,

- mls headgasket
- inlet/exhaust gaskets
- cam belt
- water pump
- thermostat
- full service
- 16v MPi exhaust manifold/downpipe

Will let the pics do the rest of the talking some progess ones and a few random. the last two pics are how the car is now im hoping to get the new wings and skirts fitted this weekend along with the sportex

Good work bud, another 16v metro on the road

Since youve already got most the parts Im surprised you didnt convert to mpi. Wouldnt have taken much more effort with the engine out.

After the amount I spent on the engine and all the parts for it I couldn't afford the flywheel, ecu and the other bits at the time but I'm happy with how it is now I have had to sell of the mpi parts now as I'm in need of money for insurance at end of the month.
