Went to the scrapyard today, found a 30k early 998cc silver Metro 3 door.

Had the wing and the door for my MG Metro, very pleased with the results, replaces the silvery blue door off a J reg 1.3 auto, and the front left wing I sprayed myself and didn't do a very good job. They are rust free and will sell the old door and wing if anyone is interested.

Looks loads better, good to see it getting some TLC

One thing though, it needs to be riding on pepperpots again, MK1's look so wrong on those Turbo wheels!

Thanks for all the good comments,

The pepperpots are down the side of my house and leak more than siv.

The old wing was more of a matt silver as I'm no good at spraying, and the door is silvery blue. Both pannels are for sale if anyone wants them.

i'm going to keep checking ebay for some when they apear. Although they do fetch alot of money!

Atleast I don't have half the B pilar vynal on the out side now.

Was going to go and get the drivers door off the metro but I have been informed the car has been baled now Ohwell I should have been quicker. Drivers door isn't rusty but a little tatty and someone did bend the lock once, which i've rebuilt another for the same key for it but the pannel could be tider. Ohwell I should of gone back after getting the 2 wings and door. Also got the calipers, and some dash parts which i've already sold and posted on ebay
there is in its place a mk3 L reg silver 5 door metro 1.1L, doh.

You could always pull the bit of the rear quarter and get new ones made up, i'm sure they wont be very expensive at a sign shop. Nice car btw Martin!

My Autie was getting fed up with people calling to ask if the car was forsale or letters through the door (Probably pikies for scrap for all I know) but anyway to stop this i've got the garage as it was only filled with junk. WIN!!

Hvan't really done anything with it. Car started and drove it into the garage.
I got a set of mk1 MG Metro stickers. But tbh car needs a respray so i've decided not to use them on this paint.

nice with the garage. that will make the car last much longer being than it always being parked outside in rain and snow.

good point! i've havn't the other problem of the bonnet doesn't open very well. Ive moved the catch around and its not right, need to enlarge the holes on the slame pannel some more.
Going to drive to POL without grill for access. i'll rest it in place when I get there.
It does look very scrapyard specail at the moment! which is kinda right as thats where alot of the parts are from!!

Replaced the radiator tonight as my new one leaked out of the fan sensor area rather badly so i've had to put the old one back in!! fan works but im not sure the sensor does.
Rather pleased with the emissions, this car hasn't been laid up for 12 years.
Went the long way home aswell to get some miles on it, currently done 10 since the MOT!

Hi Martin,

Great to see you got this sorted. Look forward to seeing it around and I think the MG you spied lives in Hucclecote.

I haven't been on here for ages but I've still got my Turbo. Hopefully this year it will be back on the road. Then again, I said that last year...

probably should update this thread.
Latest work was to replace a the missing verto slave cylinder lower bolt and sleave as it somehow worked loose and fell off leading to a poor clutch operation. I couldn't find one locally so had to travel to the only breakers yard I knew with a mk1 metro in.
trying to upload pictures.

Glad you found an other bolt. Going to a breakers yard is sometimes like going to a museum
