In 1987 I bought a new Austin Metro in red - a city model with a 998cc A+ engine. Well now I've just bought another! It's a Rover Metro 1.1 1993 model with a carburettor! It's done just 24k miles, is blue and has rusty rear arches. It ran very badly and was very smelly and fumy on running. This was due to a previous owner's efforts at drilling out the mixture screw cover and failing, just enriching the mixture. I've put this right and it looks to me like this car has stood somewhere for about ten years if the algae on the passenger's window seal is anything to go by. It is fun to razz about in, and feels light. Let's see how it goes....

Sadly not. And I remember that, as one who had always tinkered with old cars, having a new car made me feel a bit "redundant" - I'd open the bonnet, have a look at all the new stuff and close it...

Well I thought it had improved slightly on here recently, so just trying to help that trend. When people log in and see no threads it's a spiral then they don't bother. Lots of new threads should busy the place up a bit lol

I agree. I'm new on here and driving a Metro for the fun of it. The above post was a bit surprising as a greeting to a newbie although I do agree about Facebook as I'm not "on it" myself and do not feel the need to broadcast what I've had for dinner with hundreds of "friends" I've never met or even spoken to!
