help needed please, i had the engine conversion done a few years ago and even then it struggled to turn over, very slowly at first and then started to turn over faster the longer you kept the key turned, and would finally start. anyway the car has been stood for a year and now it wont turn over, its slower than ever and just will never start like this. I have fitted a new starter motor and fully charged the battery and its just so slow. i really need help as i dont no what to do now, just need to get it running. When the car used to run it ran well when i got it going, a new bit of enthusiasm has got me back into it and now want to finally complete the project and get it on the road. Please help

hello. there are two kinds of starter motor, the one that is normally in the metro which is not as strong as the other kind which I believe is fitted to e.g a rover 400 1.6 liter k-series. this is more power full, could this be your problem?

Bosch starter motor is the one to have on r65, also before hunting for one of them clean up the earth connection from the engine to slam panel (by passenger headlight) I normally give them a skim with the grinder, and should help alot.
